Robert Pattinson May Be The Next Movie Batman

We know now who may don the cowl in Matt Reeves upcoming movie, “The Batman“, and it’s a choice that is already turning heads. All signs are pointing to the man behind the mask being Robert Pattinson. Yes, that Robert Pattinson.

A report from Variety all but confirmed that Pattinson was cast as the Caped Crusader. Initially, their article made it sound very much like the actor was signed for the part, but it was later updated and amended to read, “sources say it’s not yet a done deal, Pattinson is the top choice and it’s expected to close shortly.”

Pattinson is best known as Edward in “The Twilight Saga” as well as Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire”. His latest movie is Robert Eggers’ “The Lighthouse” which he stars alongside Willem DaFoe.

“The Batman” is set to start filming at the end of this year, with a release at some point in 2021 (although that could change).

Fans are already clamoring about this choice, as they have every time a Batman has been cast for a movie. Remember all the fuss over Ben Affleck? It happened with Christian Bale, and it happened with Michael Keaton. All I have to say at this point is let’s just wait and see (and hope it doesn’t turn out like Jared Leto as The Joker).

Interestingly, the 33-year old actor would actually be older than Christian Bale when he took the mantle, but younger than everyone else who has played Batman in a live-action role.

Stay tuned for more updates on this film as news develops.

Disney Takes Full Control Of Hulu

The Disney media empire continues to grow to enormous size, as today it was announced that they have now acquired majority control of Hulu.

The announcement came via a press release from Disney, who explained they have “full operational control” of the streaming service at a price of $71.3 billion.

Comcast still owns a 33% stake in the company through its subsidiary with NBC Universal. They have the ability to enforce an option to sell its 33% stake in Hulu to Disney in 2024 at a valuation of at least $27.5 billion.

According to a report from CNBC, “Comcast could either sell its stake in Hulu at a valuation $27.5 billion or whatever Hulu is appraised to be worth in five years. Comcast is guaranteed at least $5.8 billion for its Hulu stake, according to the agreement.”

Hulu went into business in 2007 and has expanded strongly over the years. However, the company has a lot of debt to deal with, so a sale made good business sense.

Last month, AT&T sold its 9.5% stake in Hulu to Disney and NBCU for $1.43 billion, valuing Hulu at $15 billion. Disney and Comcast agreed to allocate that purchase on a pro-rata basis, giving Disney a 66% ownership and Comcast/NBCU a 33% equity stake.

It’s been a busy year for Disney, with their acquisition of Fox as well. It won’t be long before they own everything, so enjoy your freedom from Uncle Walt while you can!

Pennywise Returns To Terrorize Derry, Maine Again In “It Chapter Two” Trailer

Stephen King fans only have a few more months to wait until the remake of “It” concludes in theaters. When last we saw The Losers Club, they had fought off Pennywise for the first time, but with “It Chapter Two”, decades have passed, and according to the new trailer – the fight is about to begin again.

Check out the new video below:

Because every 27 years evil revisits the town of Derry, Maine, “It Chapter Two” brings the characters—who’ve long since gone their separate ways—back together as adults, nearly three decades after the events of the first film. Can they take down Pennywise once and for all? We will have to wait and see… or read the book, which came out several decades ago.

“It Chapter Two” stars Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Hader, as well as the returning kids from the first film including Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, and Jack Dylan Grazer. Bill Skarsgård is also back to reprise his role as Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

Expect Pennywise and The Losers Club to return to the big screen on September 6, 2019.

Spidey’s Got Some Growing Up to Do In New “Spider-Man: Far From Home” Trailer

Spidey is back, and he is headed on a vacation – one that happens to be interrupted by Nick Fury and… Mysterio?

The latest trailer for the Spider-Man sequel just arrived after most places have dropped the embargo on Avengers spoilers, and it’s perfect timing! A lot goes on in this video, including a look at a new Spidey suit and more!

WARNING: If you haven’t watched “Avengers: Endgame” yet, do NOT watch the trailer below. If you have, or don’t care about spoilers, then give it a view:

SPOILER PART: With the death of Tony Stark in “Endgame”, Peter is still dealing with some serious depression, self-doubt, and trying to fill a large Iron void. Ole’ Web-Head is going to do some maturing in this film, and by the looks of it pretty fast. Plus, a lot of characters seem to know the secret identity of Parker, which makes me wonder if this is all just a Mysterio induced fantasy…

That “more” I mentioned above is the mention of multiverses, which seems to be the start for what could be part of this new phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The idea of a multiverse was teased in “Endgame” when Hulk met with The Ancient One, and discussed the ramification of what happens when something is changed in the past – the splintering of timelines into new realities.

With things uncertain, including what will happen with the X-Men and Fantastic Four, bringing the multiverse officially into the MCU truly expands the possibilities of what could happen over the course of the next decade.

“Spider-Man: Far From Home” stars Tom Holland, Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, JB Smoove, Jacob Batalon, Martin Star, with Marisa Tomei, and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The film swings into theaters on July 2, 2019.

After Fan Backlash, “Sonic The Hedgehog” Movie Will Get Some Big Changes

The trailer for the new “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie created a resounding and unanimous internet reaction – WTF IS THIS? While not as bad as the initial live-action Aladdin trailer, viewers were quite unhappy with the look of the Blue Blur. Today, those concerns and criticisms were addressed directly by the studio and yes, they heard everything we said.

Director Jeff Fowler posted the following on Twitter to address the critics:

“Thank you for the support. And the criticism. The message is loud and clear,” Fowler tweeted. “You aren’t happy with the design & you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount & Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast”

Earlier this year when images of Sonic first leaked to the internet, Sonic creator Yuji Naka was not too happy either, and it seems like his reaction has stayed the same with this official reveal.

The biggest positive out of this is the creators and studios are listening, and this is a chance to make things right. If Paramount can achieve what the Pokemon Detective Pikachu movie has done with how good their CG characters look, let’s hope Sonic can get some love too.

Sonic will not hit theaters until November 8, although the date could be pushed back to make these changes. Realistically, if only the Sonic VFX are being changed, hitting that targeted release should still be possible.

Noah Centineo Confirms He-Man Role for “Masters of the Universe” movie

Production will begin soon for the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” movie, and we know officially know who our leading man will be.

We reported back in March that Noah Centineo was the frontrunner by the studio to play the role, and today we can announce it as a fact. Centineo appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”, and was asked whether or not the rumors were true. Turns out they are!

“I have an affinity for being in my underwear,” Centineo jokingly told Fallon, “I’m very excited, it’s quite an opportunity!”

Check out the video below to hear the news, which happens from 3:12 to 3:50.

Sony has a tentative start date for production starting on July 15th in Prague and wrapping on October 18th.

Quentin Tarantino Says “Star Trek” Film Script Has Been Written

Quentin Tarantino has been a busy man, recently finishing his work on “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood”, but trekkies like me are more interested in what’s been happening with his Star Trek plans. Some time ago, Tarantino showed an interest in making a Trek film of his own, but it seems to have fallen off the radar in recent times. Today, we have an update, and at the very least we can remain hopeful.

According to an interview with Slash Film discussing the new “Netflix cut” mini-series of “The Hateful Eight”, Tarantino was asked if he was going to make a Star Trek movie. Turns out, he still very much would like to.

It’s a very big possibility. I haven’t been dealing with those guys for a while cause I’ve been making my movie. But we’ve talked about a story and a script. The script has been written and when I emerge my head like Punxsutawney Phil, post-Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, we’ll pick up talking about it again.

Writing a script is one thing, getting it formally sold and made into a movie is another. At the very least, we are one step closer to the dream!

Recently, Jonathan Frakes did an interview with TrekMovie, where he said he was very “excited” about potentially working with Tarantino and doing a Trek film with him, but believed execs were worried about the potential R-rating that could come with working with Quentin.

With the Star Trek franchise going in many different directions between live action shows and animated series (for both kids and adults), an R-rated Trek movie may not be so far fetched anymore.

Tarantino fans can look forward to the debut of “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood” during the Cannes Film Festival on May 21.

Gotta’ Go Fast With First “Sonic The Hedgehog” Trailer

The first trailer for Paramount’s upcoming “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie has just hit the internet, and it’s definitely something!

Check out the trailer below:

Here is the official synopsis: SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

I don’t even know where to begin with this one. Aside from the generic movie plot, the trailer gives waaay too much information away. It’s one thing for a trailer to be enigmatic, and it’s another to offer too little – but this is a case of knowing the entire plot of the movie and showing us perhaps a bit too much.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room – the blue one. That Sonic CG model is… well, it’s definitely a CG model. His legs, his hands (or paws, I’m not even sure), and that face – this is what nightmares look like.

The real highlight here is seeing Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik, or Eggman (we really aren’t sure yet). It looks like Carrey was mighty hungry, because that scenery sure wasn’t chewing itself. This looks like a great vehicle for the veteran actor to let loose and have fun, so despite my jabs I actually am excited to see him in this movie.

“Sonic the Hedgehog” hits theaters in November.
