Maker of amazing 12″ action figures, Hot Toys announced at San Diego Comic Con 2012 this past weekend their newest license, which is actually one of their oldest.
Hot Toys has revealed that they now have the license to make 1:6 scale figures from the 1960’s retro “Batman” TV show. Starring Adam West and Burt Ward, among a rogues gallery of famed character actors to round out the villains, fans can expect a lot of high quality toys coming soon, starting with an in-scale Batmobile.
No official release date has been announced yet, but expect this bad boy in time for Christmas this year, if not first quarter in 2013.

It’s been a long time coming, but Star Wars is now officially joining Kotobukiya’s lineup of Bishoujo (Japanese for “beautiful girl”) statues! Get ready to see the lovely ladies of all eras of the ultimate science-fiction powerhouse reimagined like never before. First up in the new Star Wars series is ace pilot/Jedi warrior/daughter of Han Solo and Princess Leia Organa, JAINA SOLO! One of the most popular characters in the Expanded Universe, Jaina has appeared in numerous novels and comic books that take place after the events of Return of the Jedi and now comes to you in a fantastic Bishoujo statue based on an illustration by master Japanese illustrator Shunya Yamashita.
A skilled pilot who became a member of the illustrious New Republic Rogue Squadron at the age of 18, Jaina Solo strikes a casual pose in her iconic orange flight suit, the same outfit worn by pilots for generations (including Luke Skywalker in the Battle of Yavin). But the pretty young Jedi puts her own spin on the uniform, wearing it stripped down to the waist to reveal her tank top. Meanwhile, Jaina holds her helmet in one hand and her flight vest and lightsaber in the other. Like all Bishoujo statues the cute Jedi has an incredible sculpt, with intricate outfit details like folds and straps. The highlight is of course Jaina’s beautiful Bishoujo-inspired face!
Standing 9 inches tall (1/7 scale) on a special display base incorporating the Rogue Squadron emblem. Not only is Jaina the first Star Wars Bishoujo Statue, she’s also the first Extended Universe character brought to life by Kotobukiya. She looks great on her own, and she’ll make the perfect addition to any Star Wars or Bishoujo collection!
Jaina Solo will be available towards the end of 2012, just in time for the Christmas rush, and has a suggested retail price of $64.99.

NECA has proudly unveiled their latest Toys R Us exclusive: Night Fighter Robocop!
Not only does the glow-in-the-dark Night Fighter Robocop directly reference the look and feel of the original toy line, but the packaging on this TRU exclusive couldn’t be more ’80s if it was wearing Madonna’s coned bra. It’s like they
imported Officer Murphy here directly from that most confusing decade of capitalist expansion and bizarro pop culture, and we wanted every aspect to fit the bill.
So while your friends are pulling up their legwarmers in the 100-degree heat and teasing their hair out to look like Olivia Newton John, all you gotta do is head over to Toys ‘R’ Us to get a load of Night Fighter Robocop and out-retro everyone. Whether or not you ever watched the animated series in your pajamas on a Saturday morning, you won’t want to miss out.
Hot Toys, makers of amazingly realistic 1:6 scale action figures, sent out a photo this week of their next great undertaking, and what a project it will be. Coming straight from the new Christopher Nolan blockbuster, “Dark Knight Rises”, Hot Toys unveiled the initial working shots of the new Batwing plane to be seen in the upcoming film.
Hot Toys has said this will be their largest project ever, dwarfing even their 1:6 scale Tumbler from the last Batman movie and their soon-to-be-released Batmobile from the 1989 Tim Burton version of “Batman”. As to just how big this vehicle will end up being, keep in mind that what you see in this photo is purely the cockpit section, which is nowhere near representative of the epic wingspan this beast will surely have.
What will the price point be for this massive toy? Your guess is as good as mine, but considering the cost of their previous enormous vehicles, this is definitely going to be mighty close to $1,000 USD, if not being that much. The big question collectors have to ask themselves now is how are they going to display such a lofty collectible, and how many arms and legs of themselves will have to sell just to be able to afford it?
Branded entertainment company Big Tent Entertainment and Mezco Toyz, a leader in collectable action figures, doll manufacturing and marketing, announced a licensing agreement for a new line of collectibles featuring iconic character Domo. The new Domo line, which is expected to hit stores later this year, will include bobbleheads, clip-on figures, action figures, and wind-up walking toys.
Mezco Toyz unveiled the assortment of new collectible Domo products to much fanfare at the New York International Toy Fair in February. The Domo collectibles also generated early buzz from some of the biggest pop culture websites including MTV.com and Electric Playground. The new Domo collectibles will be available at specialty stores later this year.
“The Domo fanbase is always hungry for new and exciting collectibles featuring our brown fuzzy friend,” said Rich Maryyanek, Chief Marketing Officer, Big Tent Entertainment. “This new line really captures the essence of the character and that was very evident in the looks of the faces of those at Toy Fair. We can’t wait for the public to have that same amazing reaction.”
“The unveiling of our Domo products at Toy Fair in February caused a tremendous reaction. Fans are clearly excited by what we have planned for Domo” said Mike Drake, Mezco’s Director Of Special Projects. “It is especially interesting to see how many people, even when they are unfamiliar with Domo, are drawn to the character and want to learn more. Domo just naturally makes new friends and fans wherever he goes!”
Domo’s unique look and personality as the mascot for Japanese public broadcaster NHK quickly catapulted the character into one of the Internet’s biggest sensations. As the reigning poster child for personalized, user-generated content, Domo has found a home as a pop culture icon within the online viral community with hundreds of thousands of fan-made images, websites and videos posted to websites such as YouTube, Facebook and Flickr, among others. Now more than a decade later, the lovable fuzzy brown character’s cult status continues to grow with product flying off retail shelves
Coming up next in Kotobukiya’s DC Comics Bishoujo Collection (combining DC’s super heroines and villains with traditional Japanese stylings) is the fan favorite wacky psychologist turned harlequin super villain, HARLEY QUINN!
First appearing in Batman: the Animated Series and then the pages of DC Comics, Harleen Quinzel was originally a brilliant doctor working with patients at Arkham Asylum before she was seduced by the “clown prince of crime” and became the Joker’s girlfriend and assistant. Her villainous ways have brought her into conflict with Batman many times over the years, and she’s found a good friend in the similarly deranged Poison Ivy. Because of her mental instability and affinity for hilarity, Quinn frequently employs comically oversized weapons like her favorite giant hammer. Based on an original illustration by Japan’s renowned Shunya Yamashita, Harley appears here for the first time in the Japanese Bishoujo (pretty girl) style!
Harley Quinn shows off her silly and violent natures as she poses seductively just for you. Perched on her enormous hammer, the sultry psychotic looks adorable in her trademark black, red, and white harlequin costume that hugs all of her curves. Harley’s sculpt is fantastic with careful attention paid to her sexy body, the cloth-like movement of her collar and hood, and the fringes on her wrists. With Quinn’s stunning Bishoujo-style face and wonderfully sculpted and painted costume, you won’t need to be as crazy as the Joker to want her around.
Constructed of high-quality PVC plastic and standing 10 inches tall (in the ultimate 1/7 scale) on her exclusive hammer base, Harley Quinn was sculpted by Masahiro “Gill Gill” Takahashi. Display Harley on her own or together with other DC Bishoujo statues like Poison Ivy and Batgirl!
The statue will retail for $59.99, and will be available September 2012.
DC Entertainment announced today that its collectibles product line, previously known as DC Direct, has been re-launched with a new brand – DC Collectibles. Additionally, in early May 2012 DC Collectibles will expand its online store (www.DCComics.com/Collectibles) to offer its entire product line for sale on the web, in addition to the line’s primary availability in comic book retail locations. For those fans who prefer to purchase a product in-store, the website will also provide information on the closest retail location that carries a particular DC Collectibles product.
“We’ve taken the past year or so to become laser focused on what makes the products in this line special, and what has emerged from that process is DC Collectibles,” stated Geoff Johns, chief creative officer for DC Entertainment. “We’re extremely proud of our line of unique, high-end collectibles, and feel that it caters to fans looking for limited edition, authentic products based on our characters and stories, created by the same artists who work directly on those characters and stories.”
As part of DC Collectibles online sales expansion, two “online exclusive” products will be offered in May and a new line of custom prints will be available for sale only on the web. The first online exclusive is a Flashpoint Action Figure Box Set including: Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and a previously unreleased Emperor Aquaman. The set also include a $500 Wayne Casino Poker Chip. The second online exclusive is a Heroes of the DC Universe: Blackest Night Green Lantern and Sinestro Bust. The new online prints will represent different graphical and artistic themes, branching out beyond comic book artwork. Twenty different designs will be available for sale, all printed on thick, archival paper that is perfect for framing.
“Not all of our fans have access to comic book retail locations, so by expanding our website to offer the entire product line, we’re adding an element of convenience and the ability for fans to collect every single product they’re interested in,” stated Hank Kanalz, senior vice president of digital, DC Entertainment.
For fans attending C2E2 in Chicago this weekend (April 13-15) Geoff Johns will moderate a DC Collectibles panel that will showcase the new website and brand logo, and offer an exclusive sneak peak of never announced DC Collectibles products coming later in 2012. The panel is on Friday, April 13 at 2:30pm CT.
