Darwyn Cooke Passes Away One Day After Announcing Cancer Diagnosis
Canadian Cartoonist Darwyn Cooke has sadly passed away earlier today , less than a day after announcing that he was battling an aggressive cancer and had been placed under pallative care.
The following statement was issued around 11am ET on Saturday morning:
We regret to inform you that Darwyn lost his battle with cancer early this morning at 1:30 AM ET. We read all of your messages of support to him throughout the day yesterday. He was filled with your love and surrounded by friends and family at his home in Florida.
Please continue to respect our privacy as we go through this very difficult time.

Cooke made his comic book debut in 1985 with DC Comics’ “Talent Showcase” #19, and also worked as a storyboard artist for multiple DC-based animated series, including “Batman Beyond,” “Superman” and “The New Batman Adventures.”After that, Cooke worked on many top Marvel and DC titles, and has won many Eisner awards and other accolades through out his career.
