Earlier today, Disney announced their plans to start a new streaming service called Disney+, which will feature tons of original new TV content from across the gamut of Disney’s properties (and will attempt to put a dent in Netflix and other streaming competitors). This includes Star Wars, Marvel Comics, and Disney itself, starting with their a spinoff from the highly successful Pixar film, “Monsters Inc.”
The Hollywood Reporter has the details about “Monsters at Work”, which says Billy Crystal and John Goodman will be reprising their roles from the films as Mike and Sully in this new show. Also returning will be John Ratzenberger as Yeti and and a new character named Bernard, Jennifer Tilly as Celia Mae, and Bob Peterson, who voiced Roz in the original film and will now voice her twin sister, Roze.
The series takes place six months after the original movie, and will focus on a monster named Tylor Tuskmon (voiced by Ben Feldman), described as “ an eager and talented mechanic on the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team who dreams of working on the Laugh Floor alongside Mike and Sulley.”
D23 has even more info, including character breakdowns and the voice-over cast:
Monsters At Work also stars Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Val Little, Tylor’s lifelong BFF; Henry Winkler (Barry) as scatterbrained boss Fritz; Lucas Neff (Raising Hope) as an opportunistic plumber named Duncan; Alanna Ubach (Coco) as Cutter, a monster who always plays by the rules; Stephan Stanton (Star Wars Resistance) as Smitty and Needleman, the bumbling custodial team; and Aisha Tyler (Archer) will lend her voice to the role of Millie Tuskmon, Tylor’s mom.
The animated series will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2020, with the streaming service set to launch later this year.
