Star Trek Picard Show Will Not Be Titled “Star Trek: Picard”

It may be an obvious headline, but the way most folks have been writing about the upcoming Captain Picard-centric Star Trek show may lead you to believe that actually is the name of the series. Turns out, it’s not.

According to director Hanelle Culpepper, who will be directing the first two episodes of the new series, responded to a fan on Twitter who asked about the title. “Star Trek: Picard” is merely a placeholder, and the official name has not yet been revealed, or perhaps even decided on.

Meanwhile, Production Weekly released some new info this afternoon which still uses the “Star Trek: Picard” name in lieu of whatever official title the show may have. The site also excluded “Star Trek: Destiny” as a potential title for the series, despite listing it previously. This was one of the rumored titles of the show, and while they may not be listing it at the moment, that doesn’t necessarily mean it is totally out of the running.

Not much else is known about the show yet outside of some of the key creative staff and directors, including Jonathan Frakes, as well as two actors who joined the cast, Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd. Their roles in the series, however, remain a mystery for now.

The untitled Picard Trek show (which is a darn fine title if we say so) is expected to arrive to CBS All Access by the end of 2019.
