Check out all the new toys we saw at NECA’s booth during NY Toy Fair 2019. Featured here are toys from Karate Kid, Golden Girls, It, Alien: Resurrection, Halloween, Alien VS Predator, Friday the 13th, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Godzilla (classic and new movie), and more.
We also did two live streams with them of everything in the booth (including some things not shown here) – one on Saturday during the show, and another the following day with a booth rep (video quality is rough in that one, but audio is very good and informative).

They come mostly at night. Mostly. That is, the upcoming pair of live-action shows set in the Ridley Scott “Alien” universe. An enduring franchise that has somehow never had a TV show, it looks like that is about to change, and instead of getting just one, we may be getting a pair.
According to a report from HN Entertainment, details are minimal at best right now but it seems there will be two shows coming. While both are in the early developmental phase, one of them is rumored to be headed to Hulu, and Ridley Scott would be on board as an executive producer.
With the Disney and Fox merger taking place very soon, it seems Disney will be okay with Fox continuing to produce more mature content. Disney is headed down that route as well, although I doubt we will ever see Mickey and Donald on board the Sulaco.
The last major Alien project was “Alien: Covenant”, which was a bit of a flop. It seems TV could be a saving grace for this franchise, that truly deserves better than some of the schlock it’s been given.
At this point, there is no concrete news on anything so take this with a grain of salt. I would totally watch an episodic Alien series, and a franchise like this would absolutely benefit from that type of format.
That’s the sound we are making after getting teased by Quantum Mechanix about a new upcoming Q-Fig series. The company sent out this teaser earlier today, with the signature image of a certain favorite Xenomorph:
We will have to wait until this summer to hear more about it, meaning it will most likely debut during SDCC 2018. As of now, we can see we will be getting a face-hugger, but will we get a full-sized xenomorph? More curious, does this mean we are going to get the crew of the Nostromo, or perhaps Space Marines if this includes Aliens 2? We can only speculate for now.
QMx has a great line of Q-Figs, which are adorable stylized mini-statues, that currently includes Harry Potter, DC, Marvel, and some Warner Bros. characters from Animaniacs.
In space, no one can hear you open toys. It’s a good thing for that, because when me and Andrea from [InsertGeekHere] did an unboxing video of the “Alien: Nostromo Collection” from Titan Merchandise, there was plenty of high-pitched noises. We really enjoyed opening up these Titan Vinyls, and if you are not too familiar with the franchise like Andrea was, you will still be very impressed with these awesome mini-figures.
No one can hear you scream in space… or on freshly terraformed planets.
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
The movie will star Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby.
NECA is always a personal favorite of mine to check out during NY Toy Fair 2017, and this year I had the pleasure of taking the booth tour with Summer, who gave us a ton of insight and tidbits about the many new products being released this year and beyond.
In this first video, check out some of the items featuring Ash VS Evil Dead (including a Slashy Ashy puppet), Daredevil, Doctor Strange, and Batman Returns in various scales.
That Doctor Strange will be a great addition to anyone collecting those 18-inch figures, and is a gateway figure for sure since I feel like I have been lured into picking that one up now.
In part two, we talk in-depth about the many new Aliens and Predator figures, including their Kenner style figures, “Predator” anniversary line, and more from these very popular series. We also see the first peek at their crossover with Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics, by giving us breath-taking figures from Batman VS Alien, Batman VS Predator, and Superman VS Alien. Your head may explode when you see these!
Finally, we see the completed set of their 18-inch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures, six-inch figures based on AMC’s “Preacher” TV show, and a new statue of Rocky and Mickey from the Brisk Iced Tea commercials (although legally they can not say that name since they do not have that license).
