Watch The Entire High School Theatre Production of “Alien”

North Bergen High School is now the equivalent of “My Hero Academia” for nerds living in New Jersey – and I mean that in the best way possible. Students from this fine educational facility put on a great performance of “Alien”… yes, the movie that they transitioned from screen to stage with some crazy reverse engineering.

The play has now made it online via a bootleg filmed during the encore performance by someone in the audience who was kind enough to record it. We tip our hats to this heroic filmmaker, and while we would normally never condone recording theatrical shows, we are very grateful that we all now have the chance to see this spectacular show.

Watch this fine piece of drama below:

According to the original poster, the school recorded a professional quality version and will hopefully sell that once it is ready. I look forward to supporting this release, and hope it includes special features!

Best of all, Sigourney Weaver gave it the official thumbs up, and was there in person to enjoy the show:

And by the way, Ridley Scott was just as awesome, donating $5000 to help make the production happen.

My chest is filled with emotions after seeing this and hearing all the support this play got… or maybe it’s filled with a chestburster. Either way, I got the feels!

“Aliens” and “Planet of the Apes” Franchises Could Continue At Disney, X-Men To Reboot

CinemaCon is going down right now in Las Vegas, and some big news came out of Disney, who recently gobbled up 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight, and most of their assets.

At the event, Disney showcased new footage from The new Lion King and Aladdin movies, as well as a fair amount of scenes from “Avengers: Endgame”, but a major focus was on that Fox merger. Indeed, perhaps due to that nothing new was shown from Star Wars: Episode IX, Frozen 2, Avatar, Artemis Fowl, and many other highly anticipated movies coming from the studio.

The biggest news for us was the announcement that Disney was interested in keeping some Fox franchises alive, specifically Aliens and Planet of the Apes.

A tweet from Jeff Bock, Senior Box Office analyst at Exhibitor Relations Co., said the following:

Alien and Planet of the Apes sound like they’re still in play at Disney, as they were highlighted onscreen at CinemaCon as franchises they are actively continuing to develop.— Exhibitor Relations Co. (@ERCboxoffice) April 3, 2019

“Alien and Planet of the Apes sound like they’re still in play at Disney, as they were highlighted onscreen at CinemaCon as franchises they are actively continuing to develop.”

They also added that X-Men: Dark Phoenix was going to be “the perfect sendoff for our epic X-Men series,” meaning this is the end of that team (and potentially cast), and if these merry mutants ever return, it will be as a reboot.

On the plus side, they also said that Deadpool would be here to stay for “years to come”, so that means if the Merc with a Mouth crosses over, he may be the only character to remember the Fox years.

Things are certainly changing for Disney with their devouring of Fox for $71.3 Billion, so it will be interesting to see how this develops long-term for them, and what it will mean for many of our favorite franchises.

Scorpion Alien by NECA – Action Figure Review

In space, no one can hear you play with toys. Today, we review the Scorpion Alien figure by NECA, based on the vintage 90s Kenner line of “Aliens” figures.

This particular figure, along with Apone (which we also reviewed here), were my first ever Aliens toys growing up as a kid. While the nostalgia is strong with these, this Scorpion Alien is a five-star figure that has made me officially want to buy this entire line from NECA. Watch the video see why!

Kenner style Sgt. Apone by NECA – Action Figure Review

One of my favorite toy lines as a kid was Kenner’s “Aliens” line. NECA has revived that line with their Aliens license, and brought us a modernized version, done with their superb sculpting and using the vintage Kenner look.

This Apone, which features an amazing sculpt of actor Al Matthews, is definitely going to be a contender for figure of the year. Even if you never played with this toy as a kid and have no nostalgia for it, this figure is perfect in so many ways. Watch the review to find out why!
