New “Avatar: The Last Airbender” comic series coming soon, titled “Imbalance” & one-shot anthology

Ahead of Emerald City Comic Con, Dark Horse Comics is thrilled to reveal information about upcoming publications in the Avatar: The Last Airbender publishing series this fall.

Avatar: The Last Airbender–Team Avatar Tales is a one-shot anthology of stories from the Avatarverse featuring beloved characters brought to life by a cast of all-star creators. It features never-before-collected stories from Free Comic Book Day publications and also debuts several brand-new stories. Fans can journey along with Team Avatar as they rescue a pumpkin farmer waylaid by monsters, go undercover in the Fire Nation, help an old rival with a hair-raising problem, and reflect on what it means to save the world. Featuring the work of Gene Luen Yang (Avatar: The Last Airbender—North and South), Faith Erin Hicks (The Nameless City), Carla Speed McNeil (Finder), Ron Koertge (Vampire Planet), Dave Scheidt (Dreamworks Trolls, Wrapped Up), Sara Goetter (Dungeon Critters, Boozle), and more, this anthology features stories both hilarious and heartwarming. The beautiful cover is by artist Sara Kipin (The Language of Thorns: Midnight Tales and Dangerous Magic).

Avatar: The Last Airbender—Imbalance Part One is the official continuation of the bestselling Dark Horse graphic novel series. Writer Faith Erin Hicks (The Adventures of Superhero Girl, The Last of Us: American Dreams) and artist Peter Wartman (Stonebreaker, Over the Wall) have signed on as the new creative team, in collaboration with Avatar: The Last Airbender TV series co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. This new three-part adventure follows Aang, Katara, Sokka, and Toph as they return to Earthen Fire Industries—the factory owned by Toph’s father—and Team Avatar find that the once-small town of Cranefish is now booming. Expecting a warm welcome, Aang is surprised when their arrival is met with disinterest and even open hostility. At a business council meeting, the reason for the slight becomes clear: A massive bender versus non-bender conflict has gripped the town’s inhabitants, and is threatening to turn violent!

Avatar: The Last Airbender–Team Avatar Tales goes on sale September 5, 2018, and is available for preorder on Amazon, and at your local comic shop. This 80-page collection retails for $10.99.

WATCH – Dante Basco chats & chills with fans at BoroughCon 2017

Check out the full panel of Dante Basco’s Q & A session from BoroughCon 2017.

Basco is a Hollywood actor who has become a cult favorite as well as a pioneering figure in Asian-American cinema. He was first introduced as Rufio, the Leader of the Lost Boys, in Steven Spielberg’s Hook. He quickly jumped to leading roles in such movies as Take the Lead with Antonio Banderas and The Debut, which became the voice of a Filipino-American generation. Ever versatile, he is the voice of Jake Long in Disney’s animated series American Dragon: Jake Long, as well as Prince Zuko in Nickelodeon’s phenomenal hit Avatar: The Last Airbender.

For those who do not want to sit through the full panel, here are a few highlights of Dante:

In this clip, Dante dropped some poems and spoken word verses, including a few compositions about Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Everyone at BoroughCon 2017 (and probably around the world) wants to know what Dante Basco (AKA Zuko from Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender cartoon) thought about the live-action ATLA movie. Here is his answer!

How did The Nostalgia Critic get Dante Basco to reprise his iconic role of Zuko for a countdown video? Learn the story in this video!

This clip is from the “Everything Voice Acting” panel, which you can watch here.

WATCH – Grey Delisle tells the best stories at BoroughCon 2017

Here is the full Q & A panel with Grey DeLisle (AKA Daphne of Scooby-Doo fame) at BoroughCon 2017.

The veteran voice actress got her break as the role of Reptar on Rugrats in 1994. Since then she has starred in hundreds of popular cartoons including The Fairly Odd Parents, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Star Wars: Clone Wars, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Danny Phantom, Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Batman: The Animated Series, Green Lantern, Wow Wow Wubbzy and Clifford, the Big Red Dog. Still, she is best known as the voice of Daphne that she has performed on Scooby-Doo since 1997.

Gamers recognize her voice from such titles as Monkey Island, and the characters of Nova in Starcraft, the Female Wizard in Diablo 3, and both Vicky Vale and Catwoman in the Batman: Arkham City video game.

For those who don’t want to sit through the entire panel, here are a few hilarious highlights with Grey:

In this clip, Grey talks about her Grandmother, and how much she loathes Spongebob Squarepants and an incident with the Taco Bell Chihuahua.

Things took an unexpected turn at BoroughCon 2017, when Jess Harnell invaded Grey Delisle’s Q & A panel and asked her about some pretty crazy stories that involved the voice behind Daphne from Scooby-Doo and Azula from Avatar going to an amateurs night at a strip club, and working for the Spice channel.

That title may sound pretty innocent, but this video features a few hilarious stories about Avatar, orgasms & the craziness that is her son.

Grey also appeared during the “Women in Voice Acting” panel and “Toons You Grew Up With” panel.
