“Avengers: Endgame” Earns $1.2 Billion To Become Biggest Opening Ever

We all knew the grand finale to phase three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe would be big, but did anyone expect it to be this huge?

Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame” earned an estimated $1.2 billion worldwide for its opening. This staggering amount makes it the first and only film in cinema history to break the billion dollar mark for its debut.

The record for biggest opening weekend before this was “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”, but this new amount leaves everything in the dust.

The film took in an estimated $350 million domestically this weekend, and an estimated $859 million overseas. Much of the international money can be attributed to China, where it also broke records, and earned over $330 million.

Marvel Studios has made nearly $20 billion at the worldwide box office over the last 10 years.

Who can topple a giant like Disney and Marvel Studios, and ever break a record like that? Time will tell but my guess is no one is touching that number for many years to come.

“Avengers: Endgame” Has biggest opening night In History Of Cinema

It’s still technically only been not even a full day since “Avengers: Endgame” was released in US theaters, but it’s already broken some serious records.

On opening night, “Avengers: Endgame” made $60 million at the domestic box office for its preview showings on Thursday night, according to an article from CNN. That makes it the biggest opening night in history.

The previous record was from 2015, when “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” made 57 million on opening night.

To put these numbers into perspective, “Avengers: Infinity War” made $39 million for its preview showings last year before going on to have the highest-grossing opening weekend in history at $258 million. It’s pretty certain that, barring a nuclear apocalypse, Endgame will topple those numbers.

Anaylsists are estimating that the movie could make over 260 million in North America and over $800 million globally this weekend alone. It’s already made over 300 million in China, the biggest opening day ever in that country.

“Aliens” and “Planet of the Apes” Franchises Could Continue At Disney, X-Men To Reboot

CinemaCon is going down right now in Las Vegas, and some big news came out of Disney, who recently gobbled up 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight, and most of their assets.

At the event, Disney showcased new footage from The new Lion King and Aladdin movies, as well as a fair amount of scenes from “Avengers: Endgame”, but a major focus was on that Fox merger. Indeed, perhaps due to that nothing new was shown from Star Wars: Episode IX, Frozen 2, Avatar, Artemis Fowl, and many other highly anticipated movies coming from the studio.

The biggest news for us was the announcement that Disney was interested in keeping some Fox franchises alive, specifically Aliens and Planet of the Apes.

A tweet from Jeff Bock, Senior Box Office analyst at Exhibitor Relations Co., said the following:

Alien and Planet of the Apes sound like they’re still in play at Disney, as they were highlighted onscreen at CinemaCon as franchises they are actively continuing to develop.— Exhibitor Relations Co. (@ERCboxoffice) April 3, 2019

“Alien and Planet of the Apes sound like they’re still in play at Disney, as they were highlighted onscreen at CinemaCon as franchises they are actively continuing to develop.”

They also added that X-Men: Dark Phoenix was going to be “the perfect sendoff for our epic X-Men series,” meaning this is the end of that team (and potentially cast), and if these merry mutants ever return, it will be as a reboot.

On the plus side, they also said that Deadpool would be here to stay for “years to come”, so that means if the Merc with a Mouth crosses over, he may be the only character to remember the Fox years.

Things are certainly changing for Disney with their devouring of Fox for $71.3 Billion, so it will be interesting to see how this develops long-term for them, and what it will mean for many of our favorite franchises.

More Potential “Avengers: Endgame” Spoilers, courtesy of These Action Figures

We are now weeks away from the release of “Avengers: Endgame” in theaters, where many mysteries will finally be solved. There was a lot to unpack in the first official trailer for the movie, including the reveal of some new outfits for the remaining heroes. We saw some LEGO toys recently that offered some potential spoilers and more info about the flick, and today a few more tidbits may have dropped that could be potential spoilers (small ones at best), or might be nothing at all.

Twitter user Andree Strange found these two-pack action figures in a local store, and tweeted out this image:

The image above includes Captain Marvel in her normal outfit, but Captain America in a special blue space suit that seems like a repaint of what we saw in the trailer.

Next to that is Thor and Rocket Raccoon. Neither of those characters were seen wearing the space suits in the trailer, so this begs the question of whether or not they will don those outfits in the movie.

This is all speculation for now, so either consider this potential spoilers, or consider it meaningless since they’re just toys, and you know how toy companies are with making meaningless products from movies.

“Avengers: Endgame” Trailer Has Dropped – Look Who Just Joined The Team!

This is not a drill! The official trailer for Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame” just dropped this morning. It’s filled with ennui, intrigue, and a new hairdo for Hawkeye, and you need to see it now!

Check out the video below:

Most of the trailer is everyone moping, and we don’t see a single shot of Thanos or any other antagonists. That’s a bit disappointing, and this trailer has still left much to our imagination.

So here is the scoop on what is new. The Avengers do indeed have new outfits, the same white ones teased in the recent LEGO sets. Looks like Nebula is also joining the team since she also gets one of the snazzy costumes.

Hawkeye does seem to have a different hair style as mentioned, which is cool, but as far as we can tell Clint Barton is now Ronin (at least temporarily).

The big cool reveal at the end is the appearance of Captain Marvel, and Thor is apparently a big fan of hers.

“Avengers: Endgame” drops in US theaters on April 26.
