IDW Publishing is thrilled to announce that in 2018 Bumblebee from the TRANSFORMERS franchise will star in his very own original graphic novel! The perfect jumping on point for the next generation of TRANSFORMERS fans, Transformers: Bumblebee – Win If You Dare gives readers the opportunity to join in the fan-favorite character’s adventures. Life can feel rough when you aren’t the fastest or the tallest Autobot, but Bumblebee is up to the task!
When his best friend is hurt, Bumblebee takes it upon himself to finish the mission—and prove his worth to his fellow Autobots along the way. Things get tense as Bumblebee and a new human friend infiltrate a series of incredible races, hunting down dangerous foes and a devastating secret. It’s an exciting new, action-packed ’80s adventure! X-Men ’92 co-writers Chad Bowers and Chris Sims along with artist Marcelo Ferreira (Back to the Future, Transformers: Windblade) have crafted a nostalgia-tinged, yet equally fresh standalone story.
“The exciting thing about this book is that it really hits all the highs of TRANSFORMERS for fans new and old,” said IDW Associate Editor, David Mariotte. “It has action, adventure, racing and robots, but it also has a lot of heart and humor that comes through in this simultaneously retro and very modern package.”
“This story is just a ton of fun,” said Michael Kelly, head of publishing at Hasbro. “Bumblebee is the ultimate underdog, and everyone loves an underdog. IDW has done a fantastic job bringing this iconic character to life for a new generation of fans.”
This new OGN will be available in comic shops and book stores September 11, 2018 for $9.99. It is available for pre-order now using ISBN: 978-1-68405-227-1.
Make way for the DC Super Hero Girls! Originally seen at NYCC 2015, Mattel made the formal unveiling at NY Toy Fair 2016 at their Matty Collector event, with additional items at their actual Mattel booth inside the Javits center.
Above are the dolls and action figures shown during the Matty Collector press event, which includes articulated versions of Supergirl, Harley Quinn, Wonder Woman and Batgirl, along with 12-inch dolls of those plus Bumblebee and Poison Ivy.
At the Mattel booth, we got a tour of the entire line, which also includes some roleplay items and an awesome playset for the action figures. This is a great looking line that I hope does well and expands into a very huge series. I am also very happy that 2016 seems to be the year that Mattel is making big leaps forward in recognizing their female fan base and making action figures that are truly for everyone.

Hasbro is always more than meets the eye when it comes to their Transformers toys, and at NY Toy Fair 2014, there was a little less in some ways – less pain in the butt transformations.
The company has decided to try a new route this year to engage younger fans by creating some quick converting transformers toys with one-step changers, like the enormous electronic Grimlock seen in the video. Serious fans are not being left in the dust, with new figures in their Generations line, larger-scale Leader and Voyager class figures, and special 30th Anniversary figures with classic looks for your favorite characters. There are also new Construct-bots, which let you create your own robots with whatever pieces you want.
2014 is a big year for both classic Transformers and plenty of tie-in’s for “Transformers 4: Age of Extinction”, with over 60 new bots scheduled to hit the shelves this year in their more high-end lines, so stay tuned for more info as we get closer to their releases.
“The Loyal Subjects” trekked out from California and braved the big snowstorm to make it to NY Toy Fair 2013, and brought plenty of goodies to show off.
The vinyl toy makers brought their line of blind box GI Joe vinyl figurines, which includes Duke, Cobra Commander, Destro, Storm Shadow, Snake Eyes, Snow Job, Zartan, Gung Ho, and some random mystery characters.
Debuting for the first time were their blind box Transformers line, which includes Optimus Prime, Megatron, Soundwave, Jazz, Bumblebee, Grimlock, and a few other surprises not shown. The company also had their custom skateboards available, their designer “Chaos Bunnies” figures, and a multitude of great looking t-shirts that I would, and may have to, kill to get my hands on. Same goes for the Transformers figurines, but company owner Jonathan Cathey is personally guarding those to keep them out of my paws.
