“Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” Shows Off First Story Trailer

Fans of Dark Souls and Bloodborne have been ever so patient waiting for the next game by FromSoftware, and they won’t have to wait much longer. Coming very soon to every console is “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice”, which takes the concepts popular from their previous games and throws it into feudal Japan, along with some new mechanics that will add some dynamism to the gameplay. Today, we have our first look at the story via this new trailer released on the Playstation channel.

Check out the video below:

Here is the official synopsis from Activision, publisher of the game:

Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, and published by Activision, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a third-person, action-adventure game with RPG elements. The single-player game puts players in the protagonist role of a hard-hearted warrior whose mission is to rescue his master, a young lord who is the descendant of an ancient bloodline, and exact revenge on his arch nemesis. Set in the re-imagined world of late 1500s Sengoku Japan; a brutal, bloody period of constant life-and-death conflict, in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the “one-armed wolf,” a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death.

In the game, players come face-to-face with larger than life foes; unleash an arsenal of deadly prosthetic tools and powerful ninja abilities to blend stealth, vertical traversal, and visceral head-to-head combat in a bloody confrontation.

Take revenge. Restore your honor. Kill Ingeniously.

FromSoftware is best known for Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne, essentially pioneering a new genre of ultra-hard controller-breaking and blood pressure rising games.

The game will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on March 22.

“Dark Souls” Board Game Successfully Kickstarted

The Kickstarter campaign for the Dark Souls board game has been hugely successful, hitting its target of £50,000 just three minutes after it went live.

Since then, support for the game has continued to skyrocket, and the campaign closed with over 31,000 backers pledging nearly £3.8 Million to make the game a reality. That translates into over $5.5 Million USD, a lot of money for a game, but when you consider that it is Dark Souls, it’s no surprise.

Here is the description of the game from the kickstarter page:

Dark Souls™ – The Board Game is much more than a classic dungeon crawler. Just like the Dark Souls™ video games, this is a game that requires strategic thinking, clever planning, and exemplary execution to succeed.

To triumph, players must explore dangerous locations, discover and defeat enemies, and collect equipment and treasures before ultimately facing the boss in an epic fight to the death.

Playable in either Solo or Co-op modes, players choose their role from a number of core Dark Souls™ character classes. Each class has a distinct role to play in the game, with a unique set of strengths and abilities.

With multiple difficulty modes and a high-level of replayability, this is a game designed to be deep enough to satisfy hard-core tabletop gamers whilst remaining accessible to newer players.

The game has an element of randomness to it and plays very close to how the video game actually works. The pieces, board, and cards all look amazing, and if you are a fan of the game, I would suggest giving this version a try.

It is not too late to get a chance to buy the kickstarter version of the game even though the fundraiser is over, and you can buy it at this link here for around $115 USD, not counting shipping.

The current release date is April 2017.
