Tamashii Nation’s Star Wars figures have been turning heads, giving them the Samurai treatment that the movies were initially inspired from. George Lucas has cited Akira Kurosawa as a source for the look and feel of the original trilogy, and this line of figures has combined those two worlds into one highly-articulated line of toys.
This year, the company debuted a new Boba Fett and the Emperor’s Royal Guard, along with their Darth Vader and new types of Stormtroopers joining the fray. It’s hard not to fall in love with these figures, and it’s even harder not to spend all of your paychecks on them.

SDCC First Appearance Boba Fett $50.00, limit one per customer, sold ONLY at SDCC at the JAKKS booth in the Lucasfilm area
Boba Fett, Legendary Mandalorian Bounty Hunter has a long and colorful history. While many fans remember him from The Empire Strikes Back as well as his animate debut in The Star Wars Holiday Special, his true first appearance was as a member of the Star Wars delegation in the San Anselmo County Fair on September 24, 1978! At the time, Lucasfilm was headquartered at 52 Park Way in San Anselmo, about twenty minutes north of San Francisco. As part of harvest parade, Darth Vader and for the first time in public, Boba Fett, marched throughout the street waving to fans of all ages. The armor was worn by assistant film editor Duwayne Dunham and featured several noticeable difference such as the brightly colored blue jump suit, yellow and red armor highlights, as well as the “tribal marks” on his helmet; all altered for his later film appearances. JAKKS Pacific is excited to celebrate this legendary character and offer an articulated action figure of First Appearance Boba Fett or the first time ever!
At New York Toy Fair 2014, NerdNewsToday was at the Hasbro Preview event, which included this first look at these new Star Wars toys slated for release this year. The lines featured in this video includes Star Wars Command, an army-builder line with all of your favorites squashed down to the size of little green army men, “Star Wars Rebels” figures & vehicles (based on the new Disney Cartoon show), and Star Wars Black figures and vehicles such as a new Jabba the Hutt, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca.
Plus, the world debut of the upcoming 30″ X-Wing starfighter, which will retail for a mere $40! This thing is huge, and while it may not have a working canopy to put figures inside the cockpit, it is enormous and priced to play!
Uncle Milton had a ton of new learning toys at NY Toy Fair 2014, including their Marvel Science line, and their equally successful “Star Wars Science” line.
This year, we saw a new glove that uses magnets to use the power of force to push and repel objects, a Mustafar volcano kit, a Death Star light-up globe with both Star Wars universe maps and the Milky Way galaxy, a Boba Fett rocket, environmental mini-labs with Dagobah slime, Hoth snow, and Mustafar lava, a slick looking telescope, and plenty of new lightsaber kits that will make you want to quit your day-job and become a jedi knight (but then realize that these toys are meant for kids, so you will forever be a mere padawan).
New Jersey based company, “Comic Images” was well represented at NY Toy Fair 2013 at the Jacob Javits Center with a huge booth showing off their wide variety of plush toys coming out this year, as well as previous releases.
Some of the items up for viewing included their Marvel licensed plushies, which includes Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, and Wolverine. Another hugely popular and successful line for them is their Star Wars line, which includes plush versions of your favorite vehicles like the X-Wing, Millenium Falcon, and TIE Fighter ships. You can also get some sweet characters like Yoda, Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2, Stormtroopers, Ewoks, Jawas, and Boba Fett. Also unveiled this year were some Star Wars beasts, including the Rancor, Wampa, and Taun Taun.
My personal favorite item of their booth was their new Masters of the Universe line. Featuring the classic Filmation characters in huggable form, their first wave includes He-Man, Skeletor, Trapjaw, Beastman, and Battlecat. “Comic Images” also had larger versions of their plushes, as well as backpacks with these characters and even Chewbacca’s famous saddle bag that you can wear to work. Remember, let the wookie win.
