Diamond Select is a booth with so many different properties, they always get at least two videos from us. This year at NY Toy Fair 2016, they had so much stuff we had to break it up into three.
Apologies for the scratchy audio here, my microphone was beginning to die here, so I have tweaked the audio as much as possible to make it easier on your ears.
Narrated by Zach Oat, this first video features toys, statues and other collectibles of Gotham, iZombie, The X-Files, TMNT minimates, action figures of The Muppets, and a variety of merchandise from Batman: The Animated Series.
In part two, we see more from DST, including their latest merchandise from The Justice League, Star Trek (including some new ships and figures like KHAAAAAANNN!!!!), and Ghostbusters.
And finally, the third video features the new statues from Marvel Comics, including the new female Thor and Lady Deadpool, plus Spiderman, Captain Marvel, The Incredible Hulk, and Deadpool. More Marvel Minimates are also coming on the way, with plenty of love for the X-Men and Spiderman. DST also showed off their new vinimates, larger-scale minimate figures in dramatic poses, with the first line including The X-Files, Ghostbusters, Nightmare before Christmas, Aliens and Predator.
Speaking of Aliens, check out the new minimates and vehicles from Aliens at the end of the video.
Not shown in the video (because photography of them was prohibited) were prototypes from Diamond’s upcoming Quentin Tarantino toy properties, including Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction.

Expect additional coverage from us later this week during NY Toy Fair 2016!
Since 2009, Diamond Select Toys has been releasing quality collectibles based on the classic 1984 film Ghostbusters, as well as its live-action and animated sequels and spinoffs. Now, the Maryland-based company is happy to announce that, under license from Sony Pictures Consumer Products, they will continue that tradition with the new 2016 Ghostbusters film, producing Minimates mini-figures, vehicles, vinyl banks, kitchenware and glassware based on the new film.
Starting around the release of the film, Diamond Select will have a full assortment of Minimates mini-figures, including all four Ghostbusters, supporting cast of characters and also ghosts. Each Minimates mini-figure will measure approximately 2 inches tall, with up to 14 points of articulation and fully interchangeable parts. A series of vinyl banks based on the main characters will start up shortly afterwards.
“Ghostbusters is one of our favorite film franchises here at DST,” says Diamond Select Toys President Chuck Terceira. “So we’re excited to be part of the first new film in decades, and we look forward to adding a new cast of characters to our previous Ghostbusters product lines, as well as continuing to release products based on the classic films.”
“We’re excited to collaborate again with Diamond Select Toys to bring more exciting Ghostbusters products to market this summer,” said Mark Caplan, Senior Vice President of Sony Pictures Consumer Products. “They have continued to innovate, helping us develop this amazing franchise property for Ghostbusters fans of all ages.”
Diamond Select Toys’ current lines of classic film-based products will move forward with more Select-scale 7” action figures, 1:15 electronic vehicles, glassware and new Minimates mini-figures and vehicles.
Thirty years after the original film took the world by storm, Ghostbusters is back and fully rebooted for a new generation. Director Paul Feig combines all the paranormal fighting elements that made the original franchise so beloved with a cast of new characters, played by the funniest actors working today. Get ready to watch them save the world this summer!
The film is directed by Paul Feig and produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal. It is written by Paul Feig & Katie Dippold, based on the film “Ghostbusters” written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis and directed by Ivan Reitman.
Diamond Select Toys’ Aliens Minimates line has been creeping up on people, thrilling both movie lovers and Minimates collectors with its detailed mini-figures of the Colonial Marines and Warrior Aliens from the 1986 action film Aliens. But there has only been one set of Minimates based on the original 1979 Alien film… until now! Hastings and MovieStop stores (and gohastings.com) are now offering an all-new Alien Minimates box set, with three new characters and a brand-new version of the “Big Chap” alien!
Titled “Crew of the USCCSS Nostromo,” this four-pack of Minimates mini-figures includes the Nostromo’s captain, Dallas; ship’s navigator Lambert; and engineer Brett in their on-ship looks, as well as a new Xenomorph figure with a glossy black paint scheme. Called the “Big Chap” on set, this alien has a clear dome over his painted skull details. Each 2-inch Minimates mini-figure features 14 points of articulation as well as fully interchangeable parts and accessories, including an alien egg, a chestburster alien, a facehugger and a flamethrower, all packaged on a full-color blister card.
This Alien set joins the previously released Alien 35th Anniversary box set, with Ripley, Kane, Parker and a matte version of the Big Chap, and will be followed by Aliens Minimates Two-Packs Series 3, which will add the 1979’s film’s distinctive space suits and the ship’s synthetic human Ash to the line-up. Offerings based on the 1986 sequel Aliens include Aliens Two-Packs Series 1 and 2, Aliens Single Packs Series 1, and Aliens Deluxe Minimates Series 1, with the Power Loader and Alien Queen.
This Summer, the new “Ghostbusters” reboot will be hitting theaters, and merchandise is expected to be everywhere for this movie. While I love all sorts of random stuff like mugs, lunchboxes, keychains, and whatever, the main thing I care about is toys, toys, TOYS! Well, good news, everyone!
Director Paul Feig sent out a few tweets reassuring fans that action figures would be on the way from not one, but several different companies all doing different things.
Fear not. Action figures of our Busters have already been in production for months. Several types & sold separately. https://t.co/ucW3xdaLWx
In other words, we will be getting Lego sets, DST and Mattel action figures (which might also mean Minimates), Funko Pop! and Dorbz, and who knows what else. It’s truly a great time to be a Ghostbusters fan, especially when you consider all of the other toys coming out this year based on the original movies.
Just in case those tweets ever get deleted, here is a screenshot of all of them:
When it comes to unexplained phenomena, Diamond Select Toys knows their stuff – after all, they’ve been turning zombies, aliens, werewolves and vampires into top-notch toys and collectibles for over 15 years! Now, with quintessential conspiracy-theory show The X-Files returning to FOX this January for the first time since 2002, DST is preparing to delve into that mysterious world with Select action figures, Vinimates vinyl figures and Minimates mini-figures!
Diamond Select will release products based on the fan-favorite TV series alongside items from the new 2016 event series. A two-pack of Minimates captures Mulder and Scully in their new looks, as fully poseable 2-inch mini-figures, and is currently available for pre-order through comic shops. Simultaneously, DST is offering a pair of 4-inch Vinimates – static vinyl figures sculpted in the Minimates style – that capture them in their classic appearances. In the future, DST also will release a series of Minimates 4-packs based on the classic series.
On the action figure side, two 7-inch-scale action figures of Mulder and Scully will kick off the X-Files Select line. Initial figures will be based on the new series, but there are plans to expand into the classic series, as well.
“As a longtime fan of the show, I’m very excited to have finally been granted access to the X-Files,” said Diamond Select Toys President Chuck Terceira. “Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are one of the most widely referenced and recognized pairs in pop culture, and the new show has everyone talking about them again. Plus, we have nine seasons’ worth of supporting cast and creatures to play with in our line planning.”
Diamond Select Toys and Collectibles was founded in 1999 by sister company Diamond Comics Distributors to develop new and exciting products for collectors of all ages. Minimates mini-figures first appeared in 2002, and there are currently over 2400 Minimates, spanning over 60 different licenses.
Zach Oat from Diamond Select Toys joined us at their booth during New York Comic Con 2015 to give us a three-part tour of all of the new items and exclusives from their company.
In the first part, we see plenty of new items including statues, action figures, minimates and other items from Batman: The Animated Series, the 1960’s Batman TV show, Gotham, Aliens, Godzilla, Marvel Comics, Universal Horror monsters, and Plants VS Zombies.
The Star Trek Select line is almost upon us! The new series will feature the first new 7″ Star Trek figures to come out of Diamond Select Toys in quite some time, and we’re pretty excited about it. With detailed sculpting by Patrick Piggott, each figure comes with multiple interchangeable parts and a deluxe diorama base, as well as a second, non-poseable figure to interact with! And now we have packaging pics!
Mr. Spock is captured as he appears in the classic episode “Devil in the Dark,” with a cave diorama and a Horta alien — the first Horta toy ever made! Spock himself will have interchangeable legs for standing or crouching poses, and interchangeable hands to hold a phaser or tricorder or establish a mental link with the Horta. He even comes with an alternate grimacing head!
The second Star Trek Select figure, Captain Kirk, comes with an engineering room diorama base, a second set of hands, a broken phaser and a control rod, as well as a second set of legs so he can deliver a flying kick to the reeling figure of Khan himself! That’s right, this figure is based on the episode “Space Seed,” and re-creates the first battle between the longtime foes.
Both figures come in packed-to-the-gills Select packaging, and will be available at comic shops and specialty stores in early June. Pre-order today with your local shop or favorite online retailer! Check the gallery below for more images!
