NY Toy Fair 2017: “Madame Alexander” dolls

Madame Alexander is another one of those booths that I will often walk by during Toy Fair, and might occasionally take a few photos. This year, however, I took a shot of those DC characters that you see above and put it on Instagram, and it exploded to become my all time most popular post (incidentally, are you following my instagram?).

At NY Toy Fair 2017, Madame Alexander had their usual dolls, but with a twist. Joining them are a whole bunch of different series based on DC Comics characters, including the spectacular ones you see above based on The Joker, Harley Quinn, and The Penguin (monocle not pictured, but she has one in her jacket). This was an interesting turning point for the doll company, who seem to be trying to please their traditional audience while also taking some risks and heading into a younger market to get some new fans. I would say the gambit is paying off!

NY Toy Fair 2016: Barbie – New body types & Fashionista line – VIDEO

Not that long ago, Mattel announced that Barbie would be getting a makeover, and not just the kind that involves make-up but an all new look to better match the modern world. At NY Toy Fair 2016, we got to see first hand what the new Barbies would be like, with new body types that represent a more diverse type of woman.

In this video, we get a quick overview of the new bodies for Barbie, which come in four sizes along with flat feet and arched feet, plus the new skin tones and hair styles that bring their flagship doll into modernity. We also see the new fashions Barbie will be wearing, as well as a new line of dolls that allows you to dye and change her hair as often as you wish.

NYToy Fair 2016: Monster High Dolls from Mattel – VIDEO

A doll line that I have some curiousity about is Mattel’s Monster High series, which takes your average fashion doll and spooks it up a bit. Mattel unveiled a bunch of new products for this line during NY Toy Fair 2016, and here is your chance to get a closer look at these scary cool series.

Take a look at the latest Monster High dolls, the new Monster High minis (more affordable at 2.99 a figure), and their new 12-inch fashion dolls for $25 each.

My Little Pony – “Equestria Girls: Rainbow Rocks” dolls at NY Toy Fair 2014

“Equestria Girls” is back with a brand new sequel, “Rainbow Rocks” and this My Little Pony franchise has a new line of dolls to join with it!

Following up on the popularity of the first movie, the second Equestria Girls movie is all about music, and features our favorite ponified humans playing instruments, singing more songs, and having an interactive toy line to come with it. The new dolls feature two-packs with their pony counterparts, a doll line that merges into arts & crafts with customizable stamps and markers to design your own costumes, and a few new ponies, including my favorite, DJ Pon-3, and her new car!
