“Apex Legends” Reveals It Has Two LGBTQ Characters

EA’s “Apex Legends” has been killing it for gamers this week, hitting over 10 million users in just a mere three days! With impressive graphics, awesome gameplay, and just generally being a ton of fun, “Apex Legends” is quickly becoming the game to beat. It may also be one of most progressive shooter games at launch.

In an interview with Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Respawn community manager Jay Frechette revealed Bloodhound is non-binary:

“I mention Bloodhound, a tracker character sporting futuristic plague doctor garb, and Frechette confirms that yes, Bloodhound is non-binary, or at least non-specified, in terms of gender.”

Meanwhile, on the official Apex Legends website, it’s revealed that Gibraltar is gay:

Gibraltar is a gentle giant with a wild side. The son of two SARAS (Search and Rescue Association of Solace) volunteers, he has always been skilled at getting others out of dangerous situations that are common in the Outlands. However, he only began to understand the value of protecting others when he and his boyfriend stole his father’s motorcycle, took it on a joyride, and got trapped by a deadly mudslide. His parents saved them, and his father lost an arm in the process. Gibraltar has never forgotten that sacrifice and has devoted his life to helping those in need.

It’s nice to see a video game like this announcing things like this upfront, rather than retconning things or explaining it like it was a mystery later (cough Soldier 76 cough). Either way, the question now is will toxic gamers step away from the game once they hear this, or will this news not affect their growing user base?

“Apex Legends” Gains Over 10 Million Players In THREE DAYS

Move over, Fortnite, a new battle royale game has hit the market and has quickly overtaken it!

EA and ReSpawn Entertainment’s “Apex Legends“, a new game set in the video game world of “TitanFall”, recently launched their free-to-play game across many systems. It’s quickly become one of the top streamed games on Twitch, and made EA’s stock explode this week, making their highest gain in over a year.

It should come as no surprise that the game is capturing the attention of gamers everywhere, but no one expected it to be this successful so quickly. So much so that they have already surpassed 10 million players in a mere three days!

Respawn’s Vince Zampella left a message for fans on the Apex Legends blog, which reads:

In 72 hours, over 10 million players have jumped into Apex Legends and we’ve breached 1 million concurrent players!

This has been a truly incredible journey. We tested and tweaked. We argued and agreed. We got to a point where we felt some magic. We knew it would be risky to take the franchise in this direction, to go free to play, and do a surprise launch. But we fell in love with Apex Legends and wanted, needed, other people to play it too.

We hoped you’d love it as much as us, but never in our wildest dreams could we have expected the outpouring of support and positivity we’ve seen. From all of us at Respawn, thank you for giving us and Apex Legends a chance. Thank you for joining us on this journey. This is just the beginning! We have so much more in store for you this year.

“Apex Legends” is a class-based shooter like Overwatch, with randomized elements like PUBG. The focus is team-based combat, pitting 60 players grouped into three-man groups fighting to determine who the last team standing will be. The game has improved on elements from its predecessors, and is just really fun!

There are currently eight playable characters in the game, with plans to start adding more very soon.

“EA Sports UFC 2” video game officially launches today

EA today announced the official launch of EA SPORTS™ UFC® 2, available in retail stores and as a digital download on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game features the largest roster ever for an official UFC® game, boasting more than 250 athletes, including cover stars, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and former UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, as well as all-time fighting legends like Mike Tyson, UFC Hall of Famer Bas Rutten, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Bruce Lee – all unlockable by making it to the UFC Hall of Fame in Career Mode. EA SPORTS UFC 2 also introduces a Knockout Physics System that, when paired with thousands of new animations and updated character likenesses, makes knockouts more dynamic and realistic than ever.

“By listening to fans, sharpening our fundamentals, focusing on areas of innovation in gameplay, and adding massive depth to modes, we believe we’ve taken the franchise and MMA games to the next level with this one,” said EA SPORTS UFC 2 Creative Director, Brian Hayes. “We’re excited that it’s finally time to ask fans to stare back at their opponent, bite down on their mouth piece, come out swinging and finish the fight.”

EA SPORTS UFC 2 delivers a mode for every fight fan, including the series introduction of Custom Event Creator, UFC Ultimate Team™, and Live Events which allow players to gain in-game rewards for playing out real-world fight cards before they happen. The game also features the brand-new Knockout Mode, which does away with clinches, grappling and submissions in favor of pure heart-pounding, stand-up fighting action. However, when fights do go to the ground, EA SPORTS UFC 2 gives fighters the tools to master mixed martial arts (MMA), including Grapple Assist, a new graphic overlay that helps fans dominate the clinch and find their next move on the ground.

EA SPORTS UFC 2 is developed by EA Vancouver, and is available now in North America and will be available March 17 worldwide on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Finish the fight with “EA Sports UFC 2” on March 15

EA today announced EA SPORTS™ UFC® 2 launches on March 15, 2016 in North America, and March 17, 2016 worldwide. In addition to the announcement, EA released a cinematic trailer for EA SPORTS UFC 2 featuring some of the biggest moments from recent bouts, showcasing authentic gameplay features, and highlighting new character visuals and signature animations. The trailer opens on EA SPORTS UFC 2 cover athlete and UFC® featherweight champion, Conor McGregor showing fans the all-new Knockout Physics System in his championship fight at UFC® 194. From there, fans will see Dynamic Grappling, and Next-Level Submissions while reliving some of the heart-stopping moments from recent fights, and speculating what could happen in upcoming contests. Bruce Lee Enters the Octagon

So, on top of announcing the official release date of June 17, 2014, EA has also announced the addition of the legendary martial artist, Bruce Lee to EA Sports: UFC. You can pre-order today to get instant day-one access to Bruce, or you can complete the game’s career mode at Pro difficulty to unlock him. Players can fight with the legend across four different weight classes and test his legacy against the best of the best in the UFC.

Electronic Arts Inc. announced today it will be releasing a new, personalized and content-rich trivia game called TMi Trivia later this spring. Making its debut exclusively on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, the pop culture-driven trivia game will provide players with  content that directly targets each player’s individual interests. Designed to showcase the very latest in pop culture and current events including music, TV, movies, celebrity gossip, fashion, technology and more, TMi Trivia creates new trivia questions daily based on what’s hot on the web. EA is partnering with major media partners Variety, SPIN, Celebuzz, and Fanhattan to deliver new content on a regular basis. Additional brands and partners will be added following the worldwide launch of the game.

To further personalize the game experience, TMi Trivia’s daily updated content offers players a chance to answer questions about themselves, their friends, and their mutual shared interests. The tailor-made content is generated by utilizing players’ iTunes and Facebook profiles to create questions exclusively about and for the player. Up to five players can compete in asynchronous rounds, answering questions against the clock on the same subject, aiming to get the highest score. The higher the score, the more badges, achievements, and weekly jackpots can be won, all of which can be shared via Facebook Connect.

TMI Trivia will be free to download (wireless fees may apply) and is launching in the Canada App Store next week. The game will be released worldwide later this spring.

EA and Crytek GmbH announces Crysis 3 multiplayer beta

Electronic Arts Inc. and developer Crytek GmbH today announced an open multiplayer beta* for the premiere sandbox shooter , Crysis 3, will be available starting January 29th for Xbox 360, PlayStation3 and PC. Including two team-based modes and two maps, the beta will give players an opportunity to master the superpowers of the Nanosuit. The Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will be available for two weeks and give players the chance to get a leg up on the competition before Crysis 3 launches on February 19 in North America and February 21 in Europe.

The beta will feature two of the eight modes included in Crysis 3. In Crash Site, players must secure and defend specific locations, earning points along the way for kills and their ability to hold those locations. The all-new Hunter mode makes its debut in Crysis 3. This asymmetrical, time based mode pits two players vs. ten (two vs. 14 on PC) in matches that begin with two cloaked hunters stalking 10 opposing CELL troopers. Armed only with enhanced Nanosuits and the lethal Predator bow, hunters must systematically stalk and kill the CELL operatives, who in turn must work together as a team as they fight to stay alive before the round ends. The twist is that once a CELL trooper is killed, that player will then respawn as a hunter, joining the others in their attempt to eliminate the remaining CELL operatives before the clock strikes zero. The Crysis 3 multiplayer beta will also showcase two of the game’s twelve maps: the Airport and Museum. Both will provide players a taste of the urban rainforest and tactical sandbox that awaits them under the Liberty Dome of New York City.

Also included in the Crysis 3 multiplayer beta is the New York Feed, a brand new in-game social feed that will showcase the accomplishments of gamers and their friends while offering  challenges to complete. Crysis 3 multiplayer also contains new gameplay features including Rip & Throw, which allows players to interact with the elements of the environment to use as weapons or shields as well as the chance to control the Pinger, a fearsome alien tripod war machine that can be used to devastating effect.

EA Teams Up With Big Boi and B.o.B in Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel

Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that hip-hop artists Big Boi and B.o.B are bringing their talents to co-op action game, Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel. Not only will they be collaborating in the studio for the game’s official theme song Double or Nothing set for release in early 2013, but also in the game. The duo will play the roles of T.W.O. operatives Charles “Chuy” Rendall (Big Boi) and Anthony “Baker” Barnes (B.o.B), helping players navigate through Mexico’s most dangerous cartel.

EA also announced that fans who pre-order Army of TWO The Devil’s Cartel from participating retailers will receive an exclusive Hit-Makers Kit. This kit will give players access to a T.W.O. Contract mission that allows them to play as Big Boi and B.o.B’s characters, including custom masks and weapon skins designed by the artists themselves.

Big Boi (Antwan Andre Patton) made history with OutKast from their debut, “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik” (1994, recorded when Big Boi was still a teenager) to their 2003 swan song, “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below”. One of the biggest-selling hip-hop albums in history – 11-times platinum in the U.S., over 15 million worldwide – “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” generated three Grammy Awards® (including Best Rap Album and Album of the Year) and spun off two life-changing #1 hit singles, André 3000’s “Hey Ya!” and Big Boi’s “The Way You Move” (with Sleepy Brown). EA Sports announces Football Club Match Day for FIFA Soccer 13

Electronic Arts Inc today announced that EA SPORTS developed a new feature for FIFA Soccer 13, named Football Club Match Day, boasting to drive the deepest and most meaningful connection between a video game and the real world of sports ever. With FIFA Soccer 13 and the real world soccer season integrated with one another through Football Club Match Day, real world happenings such as injuries, suspensions, team form and media gossip will be reflected through game play and in-game commentary.

Through Football Club Match Day, EA SPORTS intends to give a new experience to fans following their favorite clubs and teams in soccer. Real world fixtures and upcoming matches in soccer will enable the players to compete right alongside their favorite teams and athletes as the season unfolds. Player form, displayed in detail within the team management screens, change frequently so players in form (or players struggling to keep in form) will see their stats change based on their real world performances throughout the season based on real-world performance. On top of that, Games of the Week will be highlighted in the top global match-ups for fans to enjoy.

EA SPORTS Football Club Match Day will be available for PlayStation, Xbox 360, and PC, and will be included in a FIFA Soccer 13 demo for all three platforms that will launch around the world on September 11.

EA Officially Announces The Sims 3: Seasons

The Maxis Label of Electronic Arts Inc. announced today that The Sims 3 Seasons Expansion Pack for PC/Mac will launch worldwide in November of 2012. The latest offering from The Sims Studio introduces all-new activities, seasonal festivals and celebrations, dramatic weather effects and more to allow players to transform their Sims’ worlds with the change of each season as they play with life and Mother Nature.

This expansion pack not only boasts the opportunity to interact with the weather and take part in seasonal activities, but also gives the Sims ability to build skills through year-round activities like scoring a winning goal during a soccer shoot-out, working a half pipe during a snowboarding session, or even more simple tasks like carving a jack-o-lantern. More in-depth activities will be available along with seasonal festivities like being crowned king or queen of the spring dance, visiting face painting booths at the summer festival, bobbing for apples besides a pumpkin patch at a fall festival or charging into the snowball fighting arena for a wintertime battle.

The Sims 3: Seasons will also introduce new food, seasonal fashions and décor items like French fries, tanning booths, mistletoe, snow boots, umbrellas and wet suits to further enhance the experience for each season.  Sims will react to the changes in climates in weather in all sorts of silly ways, like getting a zebra-striped tan, catching a bad cold or even getting struck by lightning.

Players pre-ordering The Sims 3: Seasons will also receive the limited edition version which includes the exclusive Ice Lounge community lot, a social club that can be placed anywhere in the Sims 3 world and is available in all seasons. This new venue will include 12 brand new objects made completely out of ice intended to elegantly compliment any icy residency.
