COLONEL SANDERS AND DC’S GREEN LANTERN TEAM UP TO ZING BAD GUYS ACROSS THE UNIVERSE IN NEW COMIC BOOK

KFC and DC Entertainment announced today the third installment of the popular Colonel Sanders and Justice League team-up comic book series will be available in print exclusively in DC’s booth (#1915) at San Diego Comic-Con: International, July 19-23, 2017. Created by DC’s Custom Creative Studio, the finger-lickin’-good comic will also be available for digital download for a limited time starting on July 19.

In KFC #3 ACROSS THE UNIVERSE the Colonel goes cosmic in a star-spanning quest to bring crunchy, spicy satisfaction to a hungry universe, only to face a “thieving varmint” who steals his space-bound Zinger chicken sandwiches. Who else but DC’s Green Lantern can help the Colonel scan the universe to catch the thief?! KFC #3’s creative team includes writer Tony Bedard, penciler Tom Derenick, inkers Trevor Scott and Sean Parsons, with a cover by Tom Grummett and Trevor Scott.

“It’s been an honor, a privilege, and just plain FUN working on the last two KFC comics,” stated writer Tony Bedard. “I’m super-excited the story is a trilogy now, with the Colonel planet-hopping across the DC Universe. As a former GREEN LANTERN writer, it’s great to revisit Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps. I’ve written many comics over the years, but the response to teaming up the Colonel with DC Super Heroes has been a phenomenon all its own.”

“As the largest pop culture event in the world, San Diego Comic-Con is the perfect place to unveil our third comic book with DC,” said Steve Kelly, KFC U.S. director of media and digital. “Fans of the Zinger who have been following Colonel Sanders’ quest to make it the most popular chicken sandwich in the universe will finally learn what’s next for the space sandwich in this latest DC comic.”

KFC first partnered with DC’s Custom Creative Studio in 2015 for the release of the critically-acclaimed KFC #1 THE COLONEL OF TWO WORLDS, which was followed by KFC #2 COLONEL CORP in 2016.

NY Toy Fair 2016: DC Collectibles Video Tour – Batman, Suicide Squad, DC Icons, and more

As mentioned before, my microphone began to have some issues during the last leg of this event, which led ultimately to its demise. Please excuse any scratchy audio, I did my best to make it tolerable when I could, and I can promise that this problem will not happen again.

Jim Fletcher takes us on our annual tour of the DC Collectibles booth with the usual laughs and silly nonsense that you have come to expect from us. In this first video, we look at the newest statues from DC Direct, including the amazingly lifelike statues from the new “Suicide Squad” film, including Harley Quinn, The Joker, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Kitana, and Captain Boomerang. We also see the new statues for “Batman VS Superman: Dawn of Justice”, with Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

Additionally, check out the new statues and figures from DC TV, including Flash, Arrow and Supergirl. Stay tuned until the end to see the new prop replica of Captain Cold’s freeze gun, which we try to test and see if it really works.

In our second video, we see the great new line for the Harley Quinn comic series, which hardcore fans will certainly love. Also for the hardcore DC fans, the continuation of their DC Icons figures, which features new version of the John Stewart Green Lantern, Static, Firestorm, Swamp Thing, Wonder Woman, The Joker from “The Killing Joke”, Cameron Stewart style Batgirl and her motorcycle, a deluxe version of Cyborg and the enormous Darkseid figure. Plus, the new accessory packs for this line that are good enough that even casual fans might want to invest in these.

Lastly, the newest figures from the hit video game, “Batman: Arkham Knight”, which Jim assures is far from over yet, and now includes Oracle, Poison Ivy, vacation Joker, Harley Quinn and Batgirl.

Finally, in our last video, we spotlight all of the new offerings from the “Batman: The Animated Series” line, which includes a new version of the Batmobile, Christmas Joker, Harley Quinn, a five-pack with the ladies of DC animated (Livewire, Batgirl, Supergirl, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy), The Demon, Ras Al Ghul and his daughter Talia Ghul, the Ventriloquist, Batman Beyond, Frank Miller style Batman, Carrie Kelly Robin and Mutant Leader, Harvey Bullock, and more. “DC Comics” Action Figures from Mattel – NY Toy Fair 2014

During NY Toy Fair 2014, we covered the Matty Collector Press Event, which featured our first looks at new products from WWE, Masters of the Universe Classic, and DC Comics, seen in the video above.

This highlight reel features their new Super Powers line, DC Comics Signature Collection, DC Total Heroes, Arkham City, classic Batman 1966 figures, and plenty more. This event also gave us an up-close look at the new DC Comics Movies line, featuring four-inch versions of Michael Keaton as Batman, Danny Devito as The Penguin, Christopher Reeves as Superman, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman.

“DC Collectibles” toys & sculptures at NY Toy Fair 2014 – Batman, Superman, Arkham Origins

Our favorite DC Collectibles Super Hero, Jim Fletcher, gave us the walkthrough of his booth at NY Toy Fair 2014, which featured a legion of new super hero action figures, statues, plushes, and more.

This video features new statues from the Batman: Black and White line, including Neal Adams’ contribution, statues of a pin-up girl style Zatanna with John Constantine rabbit and Catwoman on a motorcycle, Deadman plush figurine, a Batman dart board, DC heroes & villains chess set, more figures from the Greg Capullo line of Batman toys, DC Scribblenauts blind box vinyl figures, Infinite Crisis statues (including Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy and Green Lantern) new DC 52 figures, toys from the CW’s “Arrow” series, and new Batman: Arkham Origins figures based on the hit video game trilogy, including an enormous Joker from the Arkham Asylum game.

All this and plenty more inside the DC Collectibles booth!

New York Toy Fair 2013: “DC Direct” unveils toys from “Injustice” and new “Superman” movie

“DC Direct” always has one of the best booths at NY Toy Fair, and this year was no exception. The company unveiled many new figures and statues from various DC licenses, from comics to games to movies.

The hot item out of DC Direct this year was their new statues from the upcoming Zac Snyder “Superman” movie, which featured amazingly realistic statues of Superman, Jor-El, Ursa, and General Zod. Photos do not do the likenesses justice, but I hope it gives you enough of an idea to get your expectations high when they are released. Speaking of justice, DC Direct also brought out their new figures from the video game, “Injustice”. The figures will come in two-packs and will be fully articulated 3 3/4 inch figures so players can battle it out off-screen.

Plenty of new six inch figures were shown off, including a new elemental Swamp Thing, and characters based on some of the 52 series, as well as a bevy of variously colored lanterns that are magnetically activated with a ring you can wear to re-enact your favorite Green Lantern moment (or red lantern, or yellow lantern… etc). A few new Batman: Black & White statues were shown off, including my favorite based on the art by Rafael Grampa. The sculptor of this statue was there, so check out the gallery for a pic of him with his creation as well as tons of other photos from the DC Direct booth!

New York Toy Fair 2013: “Mezco” unveils “Breaking Bad” figures

“Mezco” showed off some big licenses at NY Toy Fair 2013, and the one that drew the most attention was their “Breaking Bad” figures.

Featuring great likenesses of Bryan Cranston, Mezco brought out action figures, plushies, and Mez-itz for “Breaking Bad” that will be great for toy collectors and fans of the show. Speaking of Mez-itz, the company also had a ton of new and old Mez-itz from their extremely popular DC Comics Line, including a 1960’s style Batmobile (perhaps a 1960’s style Adam West batman Mez-itz is not far away).

Thundercats statues and the continuation of Mezco’s “Living Dead Dolls” were also present at the show.

Also making their debut were the new figures based on the upcoming animated series (and hit comic) “Axe Cop”. Fans can look forward to figures and plushies of their favorite characters from the brilliant book about a cop with an axe and a partner who is constantly changing.

Cartoon Network Announces New & Returning Series, but no ThunderCats

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary, along with double-digit growth and its #1 status with boys 6-11 on all of television, Cartoon Network announced today several new and returning series to its programming line-up.
Having its best first quarter with kids in prime in five years (up 28% vs. 2011) and showing the most gains compared to the competition in the kids space, the network’s afternoon Upfront presentation held at New York’s Roseland Ballroom paid tribute to the past and present with a full orchestra playing classic Cartoon Network television theme songs and live performances from the creative talent behind the hit animated comedy series Adventure Time and Regular Show.

Announcements included a new sketch comedy show from entertainer Nick Cannon; the world premiere of DreamWorks Dragons: The Series, based on the critically-acclaimed feature film, How to Train Your Dragon; an original series based on Web sensation, Annoying Orange; a brand new animated series from the global franchise powerhouse, Ben 10: Omniverse; and a new CG-animated series from Warner Bros. Animation, Beware The Batman. Also, on the heels of the hugely successful Ninjago launch in 2011—currently the #1 show across 1st Quarter 2012 with all boys—a new partnership with LEGO for a second series was announced by the network as it continues to build on its slate of diverse content.

“We are executing a brand vision and content strategy that is fueling tremendous results for Cartoon Network,” said Stuart Snyder, president and chief operating officer, Turner Broadcasting’s Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media (AYAKM). “Today, with a re-invented and thriving prime time, along with overall double-digit growth in total day, we are building the kind of momentum that is making this a great 20th anniversary.”

Ranking #1 in early evening prime time (7-9 p.m.) among boys 6-11 throughout 1st Quarter this year, Cartoon Network also announced new upcoming seasons of its original hit animated comedy series Adventure Time, Regular Show, The Amazing World of Gumball, MAD and The Looney Tunes Show. A 2nd season pick-up for the live-action comedy series Level Up, which debuted as the most watched live-action series in the network’s history, and a 5th season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, also was announced.

Combined with top-performing acquisitions and specials, these programming anchors not only fueled 2011’s prime time performance as Cartoon Network’s most-watched in five years, they also set the stage for a record breaking first quarter in 2012. New seasons for more than a dozen additional series also will premiere across the 2012-13 programming timeframe.

“For 20 years, Cartoon Network has cultivated truly original voices from a diverse array of artists and producers, making us the great alternative to everything else out there,” said Rob Sorcher, chief content officer for Cartoon Network. “Cartoon Network Studios has grown to become the most supportive and creative environment for a new generation of creators.”

Cartoon Network also announced its ongoing commitment to its shorts program with ten original 7-minute shorts to be produced this year with a wholly dedicated production unit at Cartoon Network Studios. With production already underway on many of these projects, this continuing investment in diverse and unique talent has resulted in many of the network’s hit animated series.

Additionally, the network revealed that a third Cartoon Network Hall of Game Awards special has been slated for early 2013. The second annual telecast (Feb. 20, 2012), hosted by Shaquille O’Neal, ranked as the #1 program of the day among all boy demos, and out-performed the inaugural Hall of Game special by double and triple-digits—between 64% and 103%—across all kid and boy demos. Online voting for the celebrity sports awards also nearly tripled in participation, from 37 million votes in 2011 to more than 100 million votes in 2012.

“Cartoon Network enters into the upfront season with strong momentum and a programming foundation that is resonating with our audience, as well as advertisers,” said John O’Hara, executive vice president and general sales manager, Cartoon Network. “The ad sales team is committed to developing ideas that extend the reach of an advertiser’s message and connects their brands across multiple screens with an engaged audience. As brands look to deliver measurable return on their investment, we believe it’s a good time to reassess plans and for advertisers to strategically increase their media budgets with Cartoon Network.”

Building off of the success of CartoonNetwork.com ranking as the #1 domain in the kids category among kids 6-11*, the network announced that its next big foray into on-line gaming would be the global roll-out of Formula Cartoon, a huge on-line racing game which will let players race against their friends or favorite Cartoon Network characters.

Further details of Cartoon Network’s programming announcements include the following:
