New Transformers toys at NY Toy Fair 2014

Hasbro is always more than meets the eye when it comes to their Transformers toys, and at NY Toy Fair 2014, there was a little less in some ways – less pain in the butt transformations.

The company has decided to try a new route this year to engage younger fans by creating some quick converting transformers toys with one-step changers, like the enormous electronic Grimlock seen in the video. Serious fans are not being left in the dust, with new figures in their Generations line, larger-scale Leader and Voyager class figures, and special 30th Anniversary figures with classic looks for your favorite characters. There are also new Construct-bots, which let you create your own robots with whatever pieces you want.

2014 is a big year for both classic Transformers and plenty of tie-in’s for “Transformers 4: Age of Extinction”, with over 60 new bots scheduled to hit the shelves this year in their more high-end lines, so stay tuned for more info as we get closer to their releases.

Star Wars Toys at NY Toy Fair 2014 – Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Black, Star Wars Command

At New York Toy Fair 2014, NerdNewsToday was at the Hasbro Preview event, which included this first look at these new Star Wars toys slated for release this year. The lines featured in this video includes Star Wars Command, an army-builder line with all of your favorites squashed down to the size of little green army men, “Star Wars Rebels” figures & vehicles (based on the new Disney Cartoon show), and Star Wars Black figures and vehicles such as a new Jabba the Hutt, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and Chewbacca.

Plus, the world debut of the upcoming 30″ X-Wing starfighter, which will retail for a mere $40! This thing is huge, and while it may not have a working canopy to put figures inside the cockpit, it is enormous and priced to play!

New “My Little Pony” dolls at NY Toy Fair 2014

Friendship is magic, but who needs friends when you can have ponies!

Hasbro unveiled a stable of new “My Little Pony” dolls & playsets during their press event at NY Toy Fair 2014. The company showed off plenty of new ponies, as well as a deluxe Rainbow Dash that flips in the air, deluxe “Styling Strands” Fluttershy and Rarity, “Glitter” dolls that will feature snowglobe-like qualities in their translucent bodies, and new blind-box ponies.

The big item this year is the “Princess Twilight Sparkle’s Friendship Rainbow Kingdom Palace” (seriously, what a name!), with multiple tiers and hidden items to make for one huge playset. My personal favorite is the “My Little Pony Pop” line, which lets you make your own custom mini-ponies with smaller playsets that give you lots of control over what your pony will look like!

Following up on the popularity of the first movie, the second Equestria Girls movie is all about music, and features our favorite ponified humans playing instruments, singing more songs, and having an interactive toy line to come with it. The new dolls feature two-packs with their pony counterparts, a doll line that merges into arts & crafts with customizable stamps and markers to design your own costumes, and a few new ponies, including my favorite, DJ Pon-3, and her new car!

Transformers 4 Optimus Prime revealed at NYCC 2013

One of the biggest reveals that came out of New York Comic Con this year was for a movie, but not exactly a movie. Rather, Hasbro showed off a sneak peek of a new Optimus Prime action figure, which is based on his appearance in the upcoming fourth transformers movie, “Age of Extinction”.

The figure, which is part of their Leader Class line, does in fact transform, just not as much as other figures can due to the intricacy of the sculpting, and comes with a sword (for some reason) and a bizarrely shaped gun that Rob Liefield would love. No price point has been revealed yet, and an exact release date is not certain, but at the very least we know what we are getting ourselves into now when the next Michael Bay movie comes out. What other characters will be getting makeovers? We can only wonder, but this new Optimus does not look so horrible… for a Bayformer, at least.

Check out more pics of this figure, as well as other new Transformers from the Hasbro Party over at Seibertron!
