Everything Funko from NY Toy Fair 2018

Funko has a gargantuan booth every year at Toy Fair, and this year was even bigger than before! Here is everything we saw in their booth during NY Toy Fair 2018.

Funko was in full force at NY Toy Fair 2018, and brought many new products for the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things” along with a multitude of more horror movies. Included here are action figures, mystery minis, funko pops, bobbleheads, and a new line of classic Mattel He-Man style action figures with some familiar slashers of the 80’s.

Check out the new sports pops from Funko, including items with current roster and legendary players. Featured here are funko pops from the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and WWE.

Funko’s enormous booth also had a ton of movie licenses for their Funko Pop figures and mystery minis. Shown in this video are products from characters in Harry Potter, Ready Player One, Jumanji, Wonder Woman, Princess Bride, Jurassic Park, Home Alone, James Bond, Lord of the Rings, Thor: Ragnarok, Elf, Mad Max: Fury Road, Super Troopers, Tommy Boy, La La Land, Bright, and more.

Funko’s massive colossal booth included funko pops, mystery minis and bobbleheads from loads of TV show licenses, including Riverdale, Gossip Girl, Golden Girls, Bob Ross, Pee Wee’s Playhouse, Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, Game of Thrones, SMallville, Mystery Science Theater 3000, The Tick, The Walking Dead, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Funko fanatics love Funko pops based on characters from modern and nostalgic cartoons. At NY Toy Fair 2018, the company showed off many new Pops of beloved licenses, including Nickelodeon, He-Man, Thundercats, The Jetsons, Care Bears, Rick and Morty, and Disney properties like Frozen, Winnie The Pooh, Aladdin, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Moana.

Funko Pops look especially great when they capture video game licenses, and NY Toy Fair 2018 debuted a massive amount of new products from these properties.

Included are Funko Pops and Mystery Minis Blind Boxes from Marvel Comic’s Contest of Champions, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Cuphead, Monster Hunter, Destiny, Hello Neighbor, Horizon Zero Dawn, Minecraft, Overwatch, and more.

Sony Pictures announces toy plans for upcoming Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Get Smurfy and other films

Mark Caplan, Sony Pictures’ new senior vice president of global consumer products, has revealed the firm’s toy plans for big screen properties including Ghostbusters, Get Smurfy and the Jumanji remake.

Mattel has signed a deal to be the global master toy licensee for next year’s Ghostbusters reboot, set to hit screens in July 2016 with an all-female team, and Sony Pictures has shed some light on the slate of planned products, spanning blind bags, board games and action figures.

“Mattel has developed a really broad line of products,” Sony’s Mark Caplan told ToyNews (we basically lifted most of their story since it was quotes, so please give them some traffic as a way for us to apologize for this).

“We’re going after collectors with blind bag figures at a very reasonable price point. In each figure pack there’s a piece of a particular character, so if a consumer buys all four, they can assemble a separate ghost.

“Mattel is also doing a board game and six-inch figures of both the classic Ghostbusters and the brand new movie. The firm is developing a new Eco-1 and the collectable characters can fit into the car. Mattel is also creating the Proton Pack. What kid would not want to throw that on?

“Alongside Mattel, we have LEGO on board, Funko doing Pop! Vinyl and Rubie’s is making costumes. It’s expansive. We have something for everyone, whether you’re a collector or an everyday toy buyer.”

Elsewhere, it was revealed back in August that Sony was developing a Jumanji remake and the firm’s plans involve a board game that it hopes can match the success of the original Hasbro game from the Nineties.

Caplan continued: “Jumanji has an interesting place in the toy world. Back in the late Nineties, Hasbro developed a board game based on the movie. That’s the path for us in toys with the return of Jumanji, to create a board game and even a mobile game.

“Maybe there is something we can do where the mobile game interacts with the board game. It’s early days for that but I think it’s a natural fit.”

Exect more from Hotel Transylvania in 2017 as the brand enters the toy market with the arrival of an animated TV series then.

“Hotel Transylvania 2 has done tremendously well and there’ll be more content moving forward,” said Caplan. “There’s an animated series coming and that’s when we’ll focus on developing a toy partnership for Hotel Transylvania because being on television will drive more awareness for it.”

2017 will also see Sony bring The Smurfs to the big screen once again in Get Smurfy, a new fully animated movie.

Sony has signed a master toy deal with Jakks Pacific for the film and Caplan believes that Get Smurfy will provide a wealth of opportunities for success in the toy space.

“If you remember how successful the little Smurf figurines were back in the day, we’re bringing those back,” Caplan revealed.

“There’s a lot of different play patterns that we’ll be tapping into with The Smurfs, from role play to construction and even ‘create your own’ products. It’s early stages but it’s an evergreen brand and in toys, there’s an endless amount of product we can make.”
