First Trailer for “Tolkien” Biopic Is One Trailer to Rule Them All

J.R.R. Tolkien remains one of the most influential fantasy authors to this day, giving us The Lord of The Rings series, and a legacy that continues to live on today. Fox Searchlight is readying to release a new biographical movie about the man soon, and the first trailer for it has finally dropped.

Check out the trailer below, and enjoy it with your second breakfast or elevenses:

The film stars Nicholas Hoult as Tolkien himself, along with Lily Collins as his wife Edith, Colm Meaney, Anthony Boyle, Patrick Gibson, Tom Glynn-Carney, Craig Roberts, Laura Donnelly, Genevieve O’Reilly, Pam Ferris and Derek Jacobi. It’s directed by Dome Karukoski.

Here is the official synopsis from Fox Searchlight:

TOLKIEN explores the formative years of the orphaned author as he finds friendship, love and artistic inspiration among a group of fellow outcasts at school. This takes him into the outbreak of World War I, which threatens to tear the “fellowship” apart. All of these experiences would inspire Tolkien to write his famous Middle-Earth novels.

“Tolkien” opens in US theaters on May 10, 2019.

During the panel, Sean Astin was asked about how he got the role of Sam in the LOTR movies, and explained that he had never read the books before, how he got the role and what it was like working on the movies.

Sean Astin talks about his experiences working on Nickeloden’s version of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.

Sean was also a part of the “Everything Voice Acting” panel, which we highly recommend you check out as it was possibly the best panel at the entire event.
