Mego Forced To Pull Freddy Krueger Figure

Fans of Freddy Krueger may need to rush to stores and pick up a certain action figure, as it’s about to go out of production much sooner than expected.

Mego Corp. just announced on their Facebook page that their Freddy Krueger figure is about to be halted from hitting stores this summer. While there is not a ton of specific info they were able to share, likely due to legalities, they ultimately know the license just ended abruptly and they have no choice but to cancel future figures of Freddy from being made.

Here is what Mego had to say about the Freddy:

Some of you may have heard rumblings that our new Freddy is a Limited Edition run, but haven’t seen pictures showing it to be a variant. The issue is a little more complicated than a limited production variant run. While there are a couple of small changes to our new Freddy, the reason this will become an extremely limited item is that the licensor (Warner Bros) is not allowing us to ship any more goods after June of this year. Though we don’t know the reason for sure, we believe that either the actor has pulled his likeness or they have lost the license. Again, we don’t know why…all we know is that this is Freddy’s last run within our licensing rights!

There will be two versions of Freddy on the market by June. The first version has a green glove and is currently available, while the second and last version will have a brown glove according to Paul Clarke and is part of the Wave 6 distribution scheduled for June release. *

Freddy fans and toy collectors better start stocking up on the figure, as it could be a valuable item one day. The figures are already limited to a small run, and this news could make the Freddy a very hot commodity.

MEGO Reveals New Toy Licenses With Marilyn Manson, Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister and… Harry Potter?!

UPDATE: We just heard back from MEGO about the Harry Potter figures, and their official word was that they “could not confirm anything at this time”. Looks like we will have to wait some more, but the buzz is brewing now for this line!

Our friends at MEGO Corp. had a very busy 2018, and are looking to keep up their momentum in 2019 and beyond. We saw many of their new figures during NY Toy Fair 2019, but it seems Marty Abrams had a few other tricks hidden up his sleeves, as he just publicly announced a bunch of other new licenses coming up.

In an interview with aNB Media on their ShopTalk show, Abrams revealed that they will be producing figures of Marilyn Manson, Alice Copper, and Twisted Sister. MEGO was the first company to ever produce KISS action figures, so hard rock is an easy fit for the company.

Additionally, Marty discussed the Stan Lee line they announced during NYTF, and expanded on it saying they have the rights to “pretty much everything” surrounding Stan Lee. That could include the legendary man himself, as well as this line of never-before-seen superheroes they previously mentioned.

However, what was most interesting was that during this interview, some b-roll footage was flashed of a head sculpt of Alan Rickman as Severus Snape from the Harry Potter movies. Is this a sneaky way of saying they have the rights to this license now?

Check out the video below:

And below is a screenshot of the Severus Snape head sculpt.

We have reached out to representatives at MEGO for a definitive answers on this. We will update this post once we get official word about whether or not this is part of a new line, or just some random b-roll to sow what a rotational head sculpt looks like from the people who made this video.

Mego To Reveal 14-inch Line Of “Star Trek” Figures At NY Toy Fair 2019

Trekkies and Trekkers, check out this piece of news. Later this month at NY Toy Fair 2019, Mego Corp. will reveal a new larger-scale line of Star Trek figures!

The news broke exclusively via The MegoMuseum this morning, where we learned Marty Abrams and his toy company will debut a series of 14″ figures at Toy Fair.

Currently, Mego produces 8″ figures of characters from the original 1960’s Star Trek series, and has so far made much of the bridge crew along with some aliens, as well as Mirror universe versions of Kirk, Spock, Uhura and Sulu.

One can hope that adding this scale to their portfolio may also mean expanding the Star Trek universe, and bringing us Mego figures from other shows. Imagine a Mego Picard, Sisko, Janeway or Archer – or even a Michael Burnham!

Earlier this week, Mego announced they would unveil a new line of action figures based on superheroes from Stan Lee’s vault, in association with Pow! Entertainment.

With the clock ticking down day one of Toy Fair, we will have to have a little more patience for what Mego shows off for this line, along with their other showings.

During the initial relaunch of the company, the 14″ figures have so far purely been DC characters like Batman, Wonder Woman, and The Joker to name a few.

Mego Forms Super Team With Stan Lee’s “POW! Entertainment” To Make Figures Of Never-Before-Seen Stan Lee Characters

Mego Corporation, the original action figure toy creator, announced today that it has acquired a license to create new action figures from the SECRET VAULT of Stan Lee, an untapped reservoir of creativity. The agreement with Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment enables Mego Corp. to unveil never-before-seen characters created by Stan Lee and introduce the creations to fans later in 2019, as the newest action figure toys in the Marty Abrams Presents Mego line.

At the time of his passing, the legendary comic book creator had produced characters that have never been released. This led to the agreement as a way to fittingly showcase some of Stan’s greatest unseen creations. Once introduced, the new characters will take the shape of three-dimensional action figure toys developed by Mego Corporation. The return of Mego Corporation in 2018 enables the company to revisit a partnership that initially commenced with Lee in 1971.

“With Stan’s vision, I always told him that I’d follow him anywhere,” says Marty Abrams, co-founder and CEO of Mego Corporation. “It’s with great responsibility that I can carry on his one-of-a-kind creations and reveal the characters that he had envisioned. I have tremendous pride in showcasing the work of a long-time friend. Our nostalgic action figures of Lee’s conceptions will now introduce new memories with more characters originated by Stan.”

Originally founded in 1954, Mego Corporation re-entered the action figure toy industry last year with its iconic characters from Star Trek, DC Comics, I Dream of Jeannie and more across television, music and film. The most recent Joe Namath action figure signifies the 50th anniversary of “Broadway” Joe’s brash guarantee of victory over the heavily favored Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III.

Abrams, the father of the modern action hero, was recently a special guest at the Hollywood Show in Los Angeles, California, to meet with attendees.

Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment is a multimedia company founded in 2001 by Stan with his friend and business partner Gill Champion, its president. The company has been and will continue to be the guardian of Stan Lee’s legacy, and is excited to roll out new projects and adventures Stan had been working on.

“Stan Lee’s inspiring legacy leaps into the future. This is another example of things to come from Stan’s POW! Entertainment. We are thrilled to be working with a legendary action figure brand such as Mego Figures,” says Scott D. Williams, CEO of Stan Lee’s POW! Entertainment. “We are set for the future to reveal these new stories and characters to the world in true Stan Lee fashion.”
Stay tuned for the launch announcement of the newly released characters – as the characters will be revealed shortly as part of the Marty Abrams Presents Mego action figure toy line.
