Metal fans rejoice! Everyone’s favorite red panda is back for another season of screaming at the top of her adorable lungs!
During their Anime Expo panel on Thursday, Sanrio and Fanworks announced that Aggretsuko will receive a second season on Netflix that will stream in 2019.
The first Netflix season premiered worldwide on April 20. The series has 10 15-minute episodes. Rareko, the director of the previous Agressive Retsuko anime (which predated the Netflix anime) and Yawaraka Sensha, again directed the first Netflix season at Fanworks, and also penned the scripts.
Retsuko is a 25-year old red panda who works in her dream company’s accounting department. But it turns out that she is forced to keep doing more and more impossible tasks by her superiors and co-workers. She doesn’t talk back to them, but she still has to let off steam, so she ends up going to karaoke by herself and singing death metal.
If you haven’t seen this anime yet, you are definitely missing out on something very unique and fun. Best of all, it isn’t a time-sink since you can watch the entire first season in about two and a half hours. Do yourself a favor and check this one out!

Netflix just released a brand spanking new trailer of their exclusive drama about Frank Castle, who entered the Marvel TV Universe during season 2 of Daredevil. This trailer gives us some more info about the mysterious man, and gives us a reminder of how dangerous he is.
Here is the official synopsis from Netflix:
After exacting revenge on those responsible for the death of his wife and children, Frank Castle uncovers a conspiracy that runs far deeper than New York’s criminal underworld. Marvel’s The Punisher premieres globally █████ 2017, only on Netflix.
You will notice the date has been blacked out. I get the feeling we will get that info at NYCC in a few weeks, but I expect that date to be sooner than later.
Hasbro is flexing more muscle in programming for kids with the announcement of Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters, a new original series from Hasbro Studios premiering on Netflix. The new teenage superhero animated series will reimagine the classic Hasbro brand Stretch Armstrong into a relatable kids adventure that features diverse characters with wacky powers and a playfully humorous storyline.

Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters is developed for television by Executive Producer and Supervising Director Victor Cook (Scooby-Doo! NECA is always a personal favorite of mine to check out during NY Toy Fair 2017, and this year I had the pleasure of taking the booth tour with Summer, who gave us a ton of insight and tidbits about the many new products being released this year and beyond.
In this first video, check out some of the items featuring Ash VS Evil Dead (including a Slashy Ashy puppet), Daredevil, Doctor Strange, and Batman Returns in various scales.
That Doctor Strange will be a great addition to anyone collecting those 18-inch figures, and is a gateway figure for sure since I feel like I have been lured into picking that one up now.
In part two, we talk in-depth about the many new Aliens and Predator figures, including their Kenner style figures, “Predator” anniversary line, and more from these very popular series. We also see the first peek at their crossover with Dark Horse Comics and DC Comics, by giving us breath-taking figures from Batman VS Alien, Batman VS Predator, and Superman VS Alien. Your head may explode when you see these!
Finally, we see the completed set of their 18-inch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures, six-inch figures based on AMC’s “Preacher” TV show, and a new statue of Rocky and Mickey from the Brisk Iced Tea commercials (although legally they can not say that name since they do not have that license).
Playmates is making some awesome figures, roleplay weapons, and giant robots from Netflix’s “Voltron: Legendary Defender” series, and you have to see them.
Many of these are already on the market now, but they are very cool to see in person. I love the new action figures of the Voltron squad and the baddies, but the real show stopper is the Lion’s that are in scale with the figures. You’re going to have a hard time fighting the urge to pick those up – I know I already am.
Continuing our coverage of NY Toy Fair with Mezco Toyz‘s pre-toy fair event, Pierre Kalenzaga takes us through the upcoming releases and brand new debuts of figures from their amazing One 12: Collective.
These highly detailed, super articulated, and incredibly fashionable six-inch action figures took the market by storm last year, and 2017 will be another big year for the line. This video features figures from all of their lines, including Star Trek (with Captain Kirk, Spock, Sulu, and the debut of McCoy), Marvel Comics figures like Daredevil, Punisher, Deadpool, Wolverine, Spider-man, Dr Strange and Iron Man, Netflix’s Daredevil, DC comic figures like Green Arrow, Shazam, The Joker, Batman, Deathstroke, The Flash, Darkseid and Superman, DC movie figures of Harley Quinn from Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman from Batman VS Superman, zombies from Night of The Living Dead, Space Ghost, Popeye the Sailor Man, Evil Dead, and The Ghostbusters.
You may have already seen the tour of the new One:12 Collective figures from Mezco Toyz during their pre-toy fair event, but here is your chance to see the extended version! This video is nothing but all of our b-roll with every figure on display, featuring much more footage than the other videos.
Awhile back, we learned that Netflix had plans to reboot the “Voltron” animated series as “Voltron: Legendary Defender.” Today, we have our first full-color look at what the new giant mecha will look like, and I am impressed!
USA Today got the big scoop on the show and provided us with this info:
Legendary Defender centers on five Earth teenagers — Keith, Lance, Hunk, Pidge and Shiro — who are thrown into the middle of an intergalactic battle and become the last line of defense for Arus and other planets against an evil alien force led by King Zarkon.
Whereas most of the original characters were nondescript space explorers, the main players in the new series will have backstories, and “ a real purpose for being on this mission and getting involved with Voltron in the first place,” says Dos Santos.
As for the tone of the show, the creative team describes it as covering a “wide age group by giving Voltron an epic Game of Thrones feel with some humor, and upping the danger level.” Lauren Montgomery added, “Not everything is solved by Voltron alone. Sometimes they need to beat something just as the lions. Sometimes they just do it as themselves fighting as men.”
Produced by DreamWorks Animation, The first 13 22-minute episodes will hit Netflix later this year, but lucky fans at WonderCon in California will get the first look at the footage later today.
Fans of ’80’s nostalgia have much to look forward to this year, as the beloved “Voltron: Defender of the Universe” animated series is getting a reboot, and we finally have our first tease of what the titular mech will look like.
The Nerdist got the lucky scoop on this piece of news, which you can see below:
There is your first peek at what Voltron will look like once he is fully assembled (a bit curvier and more organic-looking than his original incarnation), as well as the sleek logo. Nothing else is known about the show at this time, but the word on the street is that this is planned to be a “re-imagining” of the original series. Additional announcements are expected to come out in the coming weeks.
The show is attributed to a deal between Dreamworks and Netflix with the intent to double their original content in 2016, which also will include a show based on Guillermo del Toro’s “Trollhunters” project. The deal will also include new shows based on pre-existing Dreamworks shows, as well as older films in their library.
“Voltron: Legendary Defender” is the first time since 2011 that we have had a new Voltron cartoon, the last one being Nickelodeon’s “Voltron Force,” which sadly only lasted a single season.
