San Diego Comic Con 2019 is getting closer each day, and the announcements of exclusives have just been getting started. Today, NECA revealed their first show special, an amazing four-pack of seven-inch figures from the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, “The Capture of Splinter”.
Check out tons of images below along with some info:
Here is their official description:
To keep up with tradition, we are happy to announce our first #SDCC2019 Exclusive, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990 Movie) – 7” Scale Action Figure – “The Capture of Splinter” 4-Pack!
After wading in a puddle of radioactive waste, four ordinary reptiles become more than just turtles, and are raised by the similarly transformed rat Splinter to become New York City’s greatest crime-fighting quartet. Their biggest enemy—and Splinter’s nemesis—is The Shredder, ruthless leader of the Foot Clan, a criminal organization that’s terrorizing the city. Yet is only after Splinter is captured by the Foot that the Turtles learn how far back his feud with Shredder goes…
This epic box set recreates the “Capture of Splinter” scene from the 1990 movie in 7” scale, all the way down to the in-box positioning! The set includes Splinter (with cloth robe), Shredder (with cloth cape), and two Foot soldiers, plus plenty of extras: manacles, a cardstock crate, and a weapons rack for storing all the Foot clan accessories.
Slipcase over window box packaging.
Be on the lookout for our next reveal coming on Saturday, May 25th.
No price has been announced yet for this pack, but last year the movie set was around $200. I expect this one to be around the same, but likely a bit higher due to inflation and the sheer number of larger accessories. Don’t be surprised if this hits $225 or $250 thanks to that weapons rack.
Last year, some sets were available before SDCC due to a limited online sale, but no word was mentioned about that yet. Stay tuned for more info as it comes out, as well as more SDCC 2019 exclusives to be announced by NECA and others in the coming weeks.
2019 is the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters, and the 30th anniversary of Ghostbusters 2. Plenty is happening to mark this special occassion, like the Ghostbusters Fan Fest in June, and lots of merchandise tie-ins. One that has slipped under the radar was a Transformer toy – no, not Ectotron – that had not been confirmed as being an actual product. Now, we have proof and confirmation that this thing is real!
TFCLUB变形金刚联盟 Weibo has the scoop on this repaint of the Masterpiece edition Optimus Prime, decked out in Ghostbusters colors. The MP-10 GB Optimus comes with a trailer, which supposedly can fit Ectotron inside.
This special Optimus also includes a ghost-trap accessory that can be mounted on top or Roller is included.
Plus, it also has a Slimer figure, similar to the one that comes with Ectotron, except this one is fully painted.
The alt mode is mostly white with the trailer decorated with a red stripe and a Ghostbusters logo, and to top it all green slime splashes over it. The trailer also features the phrases “Call us 555-2568” and “We’re ready to believe you” on the side, and we hope you got that reference.
We also have a look at the packaging, showcasing the figure in truck mode and labeled as “MP-1GB Optimus Prime Ecto 35 Edition”.
The figure is expected to be officially unveiled at SDCC 2019, but it better not be sold exclusively there!
