Noah Centineo Confirms He-Man Role for “Masters of the Universe” movie

Production will begin soon for the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” movie, and we know officially know who our leading man will be.

We reported back in March that Noah Centineo was the frontrunner by the studio to play the role, and today we can announce it as a fact. Centineo appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon”, and was asked whether or not the rumors were true. Turns out they are!

“I have an affinity for being in my underwear,” Centineo jokingly told Fallon, “I’m very excited, it’s quite an opportunity!”

Check out the video below to hear the news, which happens from 3:12 to 3:50.

Sony has a tentative start date for production starting on July 15th in Prague and wrapping on October 18th.

Sony Updates Us On Their Next-Gen Console – PS5?

The man behind the PS4, Mark Cerny, spoke with Wired at the Sony HQ in California, where he and the company have been developing the next console to replace the PS4. According to Cerny, whatever the next console is will be more than just a mere upgrade.

The big news is the new CPU, which allows some very powerful graphics:

The CPU is based on the third generation of AMD’s Ryzen line and contains eight cores of the company’s new 7nm Zen 2 microarchitecture. The GPU, a custom variant of Radeon’s Navi family, will support ray tracing, a technique that models the travel of light to simulate complex interactions in 3D environments.

Ray tracing’s immediate benefits are largely visual. Because it mimics the way light bounces from object to object in a scene, reflective surfaces and refractions through glass or liquid can be rendered much more accurately, even in real-time, leading to heightened realism.

The AMD chip also includes a custom unit for 3D audio for a more immersive experience. It will also be able to support 8K graphics.

The new system will also have a Solid State Drive (SSD), which has done some impressive things for the power of this console. Using Insomniac’s Spider-Man game, Cerny showed off the fast-traveling ability on a PS4 Pro to get to a location, which took 15 seconds for the game to load it. Using a next-gen PlayStation devkit, the same action took 0.8 seconds.

Backwards compatibility is so far accounted for, at least to a degree, as PS4 games and current PSVR headsets will be supported on the new system. It will also still allow for physical discs and not just downloadable content.

As of now, there is no name for the console, although many expect it to be the PS5. However, Cerny offered Wired an “enigmatic smile” when asked about it. Perhaps they will go the route of the XBOX One and name it something very different.

There was no discussion of games, as that still seems to be way off while they work on the architecture of the console.

The system will not be due out this year. In fact, we wont be hearing much about it at all this year, not even at E3 in June. For the first time, Sony won’t be holding a keynote at the annual games show, so take that however you will.

This is the most news we have heard about this system in ages, and it looks like there is still a lot of work to do. Whenever this console arrives, it sounds like it could be a game changer.

Noah Centineo Will Be He-Man In New “Masters of the Universe” Film

It seems Sony has finally found their hero to hold their sword high and say “I Have The POWEERRR!!!”, as Noah Centineo is slated to star as He-Man in the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” film.

According to a report from Variety, Centineo is in talks to take the role of Prince Adam and/or He-Man for the new MOTU reboot movie. Noah was most recently in Netflix’s “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” and “Sierra Burgess Is a Loser.” Up next for him is “The Stand-In,” and the sequel to “To All the Boys”, so a lot of romantic comedies are on his resume these days.

All signs point to him adding protector of Eternia to his IMDB page sometime soon, but really the question is whether or not he will indeed be both Prince Adam and He-Man, or perhaps just the physically smaller alter-ego of He-Man. Time will tell, but we will certainly update things once we know the final answer.

An earlier report said that principal shooting would begin this summer in Europe (perhaps a location that has an actual castle that will double for Greyskull). If that date is still accurate, expect casting news to start happening very fast over the next few months.

Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch, as well as DeVon Franklin will be producing the movie, with a screenplay by David S. Goyer, who is also an executive producer.

“Masters Of The Universe” Movie Has A Shoot Date and Location

By the power of Greyskull, we finally have a date for the new “Masters of the Universe” movie from Sony to start shooting!

Production Weekly tweeted the news, announcing that pre-production was nearing completion, and the actual production of the movie would begin this summer.

The tweet was: “Updated production schedule and location for Sony’s MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, from the directing duo of Aaron and Adam Nee. Principal photography is due to get underway mid-July in Prague.”

The Nee Brothers previously co-directed “Band of Robbers,” “Clark Kent has a Dream”, “The Geniuses”, and a short titled “You Can Never Really Know Someone”, just to name a few of their works.

David Goyer is penned to write the script. No casting news has been announced yet, although I would not be surprised to see something like that revealed closer to SDCC 2019.

Sony originally scheduled this movie for release on December 18th, but the likelihood of that happening is up for debate.

“God Of War” Returns With Nordic-Based Game at E3 2016

Kratos has returned at E3, and he is more bearded than ever!

Sony opened up its E3 press conference with a full orchestra over some gameplay footage of a child talking to someone – someone that was revealed to be Kratos from the “God of War” franchise. It would seem that Kratos has a son, and in the game that was played live at the event, we saw him and his child battle trolls, orcs, and other monsters in a brand new world that takes place in the era of Vikings.

This is a huge shift from where the games were previously based in, not just in lore but setting, weapons, appearance, and even the baddies. If you ever wanted Skyrim but with God of War, this is the game for you.

Here’s the God of War gameplay trailer, which premiered at E3 2016 and will be available for the PS4.

Sony Pictures announces toy plans for upcoming Ghostbusters, Jumanji, Get Smurfy and other films

Mark Caplan, Sony Pictures’ new senior vice president of global consumer products, has revealed the firm’s toy plans for big screen properties including Ghostbusters, Get Smurfy and the Jumanji remake.

Mattel has signed a deal to be the global master toy licensee for next year’s Ghostbusters reboot, set to hit screens in July 2016 with an all-female team, and Sony Pictures has shed some light on the slate of planned products, spanning blind bags, board games and action figures.

cc8d4df6c60c4fce62a452352962d31d

“Mattel has developed a really broad line of products,” Sony’s Mark Caplan told ToyNews (we basically lifted most of their story since it was quotes, so please give them some traffic as a way for us to apologize for this).

“We’re going after collectors with blind bag figures at a very reasonable price point. In each figure pack there’s a piece of a particular character, so if a consumer buys all four, they can assemble a separate ghost.

“Mattel is also doing a board game and six-inch figures of both the classic Ghostbusters and the brand new movie. The firm is developing a new Eco-1 and the collectable characters can fit into the car. Mattel is also creating the Proton Pack. What kid would not want to throw that on?

“Alongside Mattel, we have LEGO on board, Funko doing Pop! Vinyl and Rubie’s is making costumes. It’s expansive. We have something for everyone, whether you’re a collector or an everyday toy buyer.”

Elsewhere, it was revealed back in August that Sony was developing a Jumanji remake and the firm’s plans involve a board game that it hopes can match the success of the original Hasbro game from the Nineties.

Caplan continued: “Jumanji has an interesting place in the toy world. Back in the late Nineties, Hasbro developed a board game based on the movie. That’s the path for us in toys with the return of Jumanji, to create a board game and even a mobile game.

“Maybe there is something we can do where the mobile game interacts with the board game. It’s early days for that but I think it’s a natural fit.”

Exect more from Hotel Transylvania in 2017 as the brand enters the toy market with the arrival of an animated TV series then.

“Hotel Transylvania 2 has done tremendously well and there’ll be more content moving forward,” said Caplan. “There’s an animated series coming and that’s when we’ll focus on developing a toy partnership for Hotel Transylvania because being on television will drive more awareness for it.”

2017 will also see Sony bring The Smurfs to the big screen once again in Get Smurfy, a new fully animated movie.

Sony has signed a master toy deal with Jakks Pacific for the film and Caplan believes that Get Smurfy will provide a wealth of opportunities for success in the toy space.

“If you remember how successful the little Smurf figurines were back in the day, we’re bringing those back,” Caplan revealed.

“There’s a lot of different play patterns that we’ll be tapping into with The Smurfs, from role play to construction and even ‘create your own’ products. It’s early stages but it’s an evergreen brand and in toys, there’s an endless amount of product we can make.”
