From X-Man To Music Man, Hugh Jackman Talks Return To Broadway

Most may know him as Wolverine, but if you aren’t aware of his accomplishments outside of the Marvel universe, you are in for a treat. Hugh Jackman is the ultimate source of machismo for many men, but we should never ignore the fact that Jackman is a lover of, and performer in, the musical theater world.

In between playing Wolvie, Jackman was singing in the movie version of “Les Miserables” and “The Greatest Showman”, among others including a Tony-award winning performance in “The Boy From Oz”.

Jackman will be making his return to Broadway in late 2020 to star in the revival of Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man” as traveling salesman Harold Hill alongside Sara Bareilles as Marian.

In this clip from Good Morning America, Jackman discussed the animated movie he is in, “The Missing Link”, as well as how excited he is to return to the stage.

Unbeknownst to many who know him only as Wolverine, the theater is where Jackman got his chops, and performing in a high school production of “The Music Man” was when he was bit by the acting bug. “I played Salesman #2 at the beginning. Clearly, the chip on my shoulder not getting the lead prepared me for the next 37 years,” he joked.

He is also about to embark on a world tour starting on May 7 in Scotland to sing his greatest hits. “I dreamt of being a rockstar when I was a kid, and I’m going to be playing Madison Square Garden and doing songs from The Greatest Showman, Les Miz, from Beauty and the Beast, The Boy from Oz,” he said.

“The Music Man” is set to start previews sometime in the fall of 2020.
