Bandai Announces Warhammer 40K Action Figures

Rejoice, brothers! The battle is joined, and at long last, something Warhammer 40K fans have been asking for since the 1st millenium. That’s right, for the first time ever, we are getting Warhammer 40K action figures!

Announced on the Warhammer community page, Bandai has joined forces with Games Workshop to produce fully painted and articulated action figures.

Standing at 7 inches tall, we know so far that the Primaris Space Marine will be the first to join the ranks, and will include “exchangeable weapons, and all sorts of other cool details,” though what those are have yet to be revealed.

Check out the image above for an example of the scale difference between the figures and one of the average miniatures!

According to the press release, other Space Marines will be part of this initial offering, but that info has not been announced at this time.

Bandai will also be producing a series of smaller figures in the Chibi style! These two-inch figures will include Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor, an Eversor Assassin, a Sister of Battle, a Skitarii Ranger and a Space Marine as part of the first wave.

These figures will also be full painted, and released in “gashopon” style, meaning blind boxes that come out of vending machines in Japan. Distribution outside of Japan will see them released in proper blind boxes.

This is great news not just for Warhammer fans like me who have been begging for action figures, but also for Bandai. Hasbro scooped up the Power Rangers license recently, one of the biggest parts of Bandai’s toy empire for many years. They need a new international franchise to keep them strong, and Warhammer is a very unique one with not only worldwide appeal, but also skewing towards a focus on adult collectors more than children.

I look forward to seeing where Bandai goes with these figures, and I especially look forward to owning them all very soon.

No release dates have been made official yet.

Warhammer 40K Inspired Trump Float Seen In Italian Parade

A recent parade in a town in Italy saw some impressive floats made by local citizens. The one that has caught the attention of people worldwide has been one of US President Donald Trump, seen in armor very reminiscent of a Warhammer 40K character.

The Viareggio Carnival has been going on for 147 years as of 2019, where giant, allegorical papier-maché floats are paraded around town, handmade in the traditional style of large sail boats, a major part of the history and traditions of the town.

While there were many other very interesting floats, the most intriguing one has to be the one of Trump.

You can check out some video footage of the float early in the video below:

Made by Fabrizio Galli, the float was titled “The Master-Drone,” and used Warhammer 40K elements of The God Emperor and Space Marine armor to make this towering behemoth. Donald is also holding a power sword with the words “Dazi Vostri” written on it, which translates to “your duties.”

Here are the artists comments on the piece from the official Carnival website:

The supreme myth of having power over the whole universe. The first. God Emperor Trump. The parallelism with the dominant character of Warhammer 40K has never been more fitting, except that this is not a futuristic three-dimensional tabletop wargame but pure reality.

Donald wants to go back to the moon, travel to Mars and create the first space army. Ultras Marines? Mega Marines? The time of intellectuals, philosophers and of old and worn culture is over. We have entered the era of fantasy, videogames and virtual life. The dominant male par-excellence has arrived, democratically, and is now here, among us. The Master-Drone flies over the Viareggio boardwalk as we prepare to pay the price.

The character is based on The Emperor of Mankind, described by the Warhammer 40K wiki as “is the immortal Perpetual who serves as the ruling monarch of the Imperium of Man,… the greatest embodiment of universal Order in the galaxy today.” Underneath his armor is a rotting corpse, kept alive by machines.

The parade, dedicated to women this year, also featured floats celebrating female artists like Frida Kahlo, religious figures, environmental issues, and politicians.

Painting my 3rd Ultramarine – Third Times A Charm?

Time for my third (and last) Ultramarine a la Smurf! This time, I am going back to working on the drybrush technique, with the added challenge of my first time painting a face!

I was overwhelmed with feedback on my last painting video and got a lot of great tips that I will use moving forward. However, this video was filmed back to back with the other one, so you will see a lot of the same mistakes I made last time in this one. But don’t let that stop you from letting me know what you see wrong, and what I can do differently to paint these better. Thanks for all the feedback, I promise you will see me use it in the next painting video!

Speaking of, make sure to watch until the end to see just what I plan on painting next!

What I learned painting my 2nd Warhammer 40K miniature

Previously in my Warhammer 40K series, I finished painting my very first Ultramarine. Since then, I got my hands on a three-pack of Intercessors and decided to experiment a bit with how I paint them.

Things went awry with this, my second ever mini-figure. Mistakes were made. Many of them. But, in the end, I managed to hide a lot of them/ cover them up. Did I succeed in making a decent looking mini, or is this just a glittering 28mm turd? Watch the video and let me know what you think of my painting!

This box includes three mini-figures, six paints and a brush to get noobs like me started on the path to gaming in the 41st millenium.

In part 1, we unbox and review this set, and take a look at what comes with it.

Stay tuned for part 2, where we will get started on painting this trio of smurfs!
