Hunger Games has a Barbie doll

Fans of “The Hunger Games” books and now movie series can officially look forward to their first piece of bizarre merchandise that we should have seen coming – a barbie doll.

EW gave us the first look at the iconic heroine after being filtered through Mattel’s Barbie-making factory, which features the series female protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, ready to fight.

“I chose to dress her in the outfit she wears during the games,” said designer Bill Greening, “Since this is where all the non-stop action takes place and is instantly recognizable by fans. Of course, she wears her mockingjay pin proudly on her lapel… The doll’s minimalistic style and details — such as her loosely braided hair and makeup-free look — also really embody the heroic character Katniss… I am a huge Hunger Games fan and loved all three books, so it was truly an amazing experience for me to be able to design the Katniss Barbie doll. I think it really pays tribute to Katniss and The Hunger Games.

Here’s the doll in all of her glory, which is available for preorder starting today on, and will be in stores this August.

And here is your way to order it right off of Amazon – how nice of me!
