New York Toy Fair 2013: “Round 5” Booth

“Round 5” is best known for their MMA action figures, but at NY Toy Fair 2013, they unveiled an entirely new line of toys.

“Cut the Rope” is the second best-selling iOS video game, next to “Angry Birds” in sales, and Round 5 is now selling plushies and playsets with the adorable Om Nom’s. A variety of sizes and styles will be made of the green blob with teeth, including different outfits for him. Smaller action playsets will come with puzzles that can join together to form a complex maze for your Om Nom to navigate.

The company is also continuing their line of Bruce Lee figures, including two new figures in the style of their UFC figures. Featuring Bruce’s look from the end of “Enter the Dragon” and when he was flexing in front of the mirror from “Way of the Dragon”, the face sculpts look great and will be a great addition for any martial arts fan. Bruce Lee fists (a la “Hulk Hands”) are also currently available, along with their blind box series “Temple of Kung Fu”, which features stylized vinyl figures of Bruce in his many appearances, Chuck Norris, Jim Kelly, Bolo, Pai Mei, and many other classic characters from retro Kung Fu flicks.

Sadly for MMA fans, none of their UFC figures were allowed to be photographed. However, I can report that there are new figures from their “Ultimate Collector” series of Junior Dos Santos, BJ Penn, Nate Diaz, Alistair Overeem, Pat Barry, and “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung. When asked about doing any female fighter figures again, such as Ronda Rousey, the word was “not right now”, but perhaps fans can show their support and let the company know that they want her. There will also be a new line of four-inch figures, and more Titans, which are closer to the HAO style of caricature figures. The new “Ultimate Collector” series will also feature some surprise variants, so stay tuned for those as Round 5 posts them on their twitter and facebook pages in the coming months.
