“Picard Star Trek” show Picks Up Two New Castmembers, Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd

There’s still a long road ahead of us while we wait for the debut of the upcoming Captain Picard series, but our faith of the heart has paid off… okay, no more “Enterprise” jokes – for now. Today, we know have two new faces who will be part of the show who are both new to the world of Star Trek.

CBS All Access announced today that Santiago Cabrera and Michelle Hurd will join the cast as series regulars alongside Sir Patrick Stewart in its upcoming untitled Picard-centric Star Trek series.

Just who exactly these actors will play is still a mystery, but at least we know the cast is shaping up beyond our titular lead.

Cabrera has starred in “Salvation” for CBS, as well as HBO’s “Little Big Lies”. Hurd has been featured in “Blindspot” and other cop dramas, as well as some Marvel shows such as “Daredevil” and “Jessica Jones”.

On Friday, CBS All Access announced Hanelle Culpepper will direct the first two episodes of the new series, and that casting had begun. Today is what we hope the first of many casting announcements to come in the weeks ahead.

We also know that Jonathan Frakes will be directing at least one episode of the show, although no word on if he will reprise his role as Commander Riker.
