Cartoon Network has begun rolling out the hype wagon for their reboot of their classic hit, “Powerpuff Girls”, and yesterday the channel gave viewers their first taste of what to expect.
Spotlighting a snippet from the upcoming episode “I Am Not A Princess,” the clip features Manboy, a baddie that wants to turn the city of Townsville into the city of Mansville – because why not. Needless to say, the girls are not too happy with this, and the rest is in the clip below:
While the spirit of the girls themselves are mostly intact, the animation style has changed noticeably along with a higher production value for it. This is also our first time hearing the new voiceover actors, Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li, and Natalie Palamides as Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup (respectively). These ladies have some big shoes to fill, but I am on board to see how things shape up since 2016 is truly a perfect year for this show to have new life breathed back into it.
The world premiere of the show will take place not on TV, but at the SXSW Film Festival from March 11-19 in Austin, Texas. Directors Nick Jennings and Bob Boyle are scheduled appear at the screening on Monday, March 14. The show will debut on Cartoon Network later this spring.
