PS3 Skyrim Lag Issue Finally Being Fixed

Bethesda’s Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has had a bit of a rocky launch, to say the least. Problems and glitches have cropped up in both the 360 and PS3 versions of the game. Most are forgivable, not to mention downright amusing. Some have made the game next to unplayable.

Bethesda has finally announced via Twitter that with the release of the 1.4 patch, “planned for later this month,” the ongoing framerate issue for PS3 owners will finally be addressed and will hopefully no longer be a problem.

Very noticeable framerate stuttering and overall lag both occur in the PS3 version, greatly reducing the enjoyment of the game, if numerous online forum complaints are to be believed. These problems occur in Skyrim games that have logged around 60 hours of play time.  Other issues have included game freezes and textures not loading, though these issues have already been addressed in the previous patches.

It’s a shame that PS3 users had to wait so long for such a huge problem to be addressed, especially seeing as 360 users had their problems taken care of so much sooner. At least it’s finally being handled. Here’s hoping no other potentially game-breaking problems pop up.
