We Now Know What Sonic The Hedgehog Will Look Like In His New Movie

It’s unavoidable. Sonic the Hedgehog is getting a movie, and much like the titular character, there is no stopping his speedy impending arrival. Today, we have an idea of what the blue blur will look in the film, and it’s a doozy.

Thanks to an image that was accidentally uploaded by a PR firm (and has since been removed), we have a first look at the Sega classic speedster in all his glory.

Here is how Sonic will appear:

It reminds me very much of how the Detective Pikachu characters look, but not as realistic or smooth. It’s not terrible, far from it. Without more context about the rest of the environments he will inhabit, it definitely is a bit jarring.

Crazy of all, Sonic has long arms and legs, which is the biggest departure from how he has always been presented in the past. Final verdict from us – face is not too bad, but ‘dem legs…

A trailer for the movie is expected much later this year, so we will see if Sonic still looks this way by then.

The film will star Ben Schwartz as Sonic the Hedgehog and Jim Carrey as Sonic’s nemesis Dr. Robotnik, alongside James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter, Adam Pally, and Neal McDonough.
